Car Control School? Performance Driving School?
I was wondering if you guys new of any driving schools/events that would teach you how to handle the car? Performance driving school even?
I figure the best way to attain all performance expectations all come back to how good you are able to control and drive your car...
I've only been driving stick for about a month now, I still have my issues... so I just want to be able to drive the car to the best of my abilities...
Anything you guys know of?
I wonder if insurance would drop slightly if you obtained some type of certificate for one of these types of schools?

i'm sure one of the racers will chime in, or someone who knows a lot, but i know local motorsports clubs usually have these schools at least once a summer (and also a winter one). i'm not quite sure what the local club in your area is, but just check around.
i actually had a list of various schools and events (for entry level performance driving, because there are also schools where you could get a race licensce if you wanted to), but forgot where i kept that. if i find it i will post.

If you go to some sort of high speed/high performance school on the track (in your own car) you definetely don't want to tell your insurance company about it. If anything they'll up your rates or drop you altogether.
I've gone to a couple weekend long schools put on by the BMW Car Club of America at Spokane, WA, and they were excellent. I learned a lot, had tons of fun and it ultimately helped make me a better, safer driver. I'd definetely reccomend it.
Try contacting the closest track to you and find out what clubs and organisations are using the facilities for schools and then go from there (the info maybe on their website if they have one). The groups that run them are usually regional, but many Corvette, BMW, Porsche, Alfa, Mustang, etc clubs have occasional schools, and these are usually much cheaper than a business doing it, as there's no profit built in, and the instructors are usually volunteers doing it for free track time. The club schools usually don't have the same caliber of instructors as pro schools, but it's an excellent place to start out and then once you've maxed out your learning potential with them, then go to a pro school. One thing's for sure, get instruction your first few times out, you'll learn more, go faster and be safer than if you went on an open track day.
There's many threads on this topic in the race section, have a look there, there's lots of good information, as well as a thread (sticky) that lists organisations that run schools and driving days.

Go Hard....or Go Home
Go to www.casc.on.ca there is a world of information. I would recommend yuo start at some lapping day and go with some experienced people, who can help you. If you do that then when you go to a school you will able to learn more, rather then try and figure out where the track goes.

Thanks guys!
Yah I didn't mean to tell insurance about being on the track, I just thought maybe if you took a "Car Control" course they might see you as an even safer driver since you took more training past regular safe driving school.
