canadian jdm engine companies

hi i was just wondering if engines from canada are worth buying. alot of people say never buy jdm engines from companies in canada, but they never give any hard facts on why i shouldnt...just stories on what happened to people.
www.jspecauto.com is a company in canada that has a s5 engine/tranny and ecu, wiring harness(uncut)for sale for $1575.00. shipping not included. the thing is ... they have warranties for all thier engines execpt rotories. should i trust this company w/ my money? is the price worth it? and if you can find a better deal then that please help me out!

http://www.jspecauto.com/catalog_pro...px?prod_id=168
take a look and tell me if its worth buying

I deal with several importers in the Toronto area. I would never just buy an engine from any of them without actually going there myself and looking the engines over.
I have seen too many motors that are seized, have no compression, have broken parts ect that they sell to customers in the US.

Yeah, I's suggest looking closer to home, as in the same country for starters, thenI'd try to narrow it down to what side of the US your on and go from there. Ideally you would be able to make a drive and check the condition firsthand, other wise you will be stuck with their word against your and they might claim that damage happened during transit and then your trying to claim insurances damages froms hipping comapanies and by that time your 30 day start up warranty has already expired.

Put it thi way, i wouldn't want to have to buy a motor from someone I have never met, who's in a different country who doesn't offer a warranty at all on the rotary engine. You must find someone who deals with the RX7 community and has a good reputaton for customer satisfaction. For the 1,575 plus shipping you could almost have your motor rebuilt by Mazda with a warranty.

I agree with everyone else here. I wouldn't buy a imported engine. My car was just imported here from Japan and ran great as soon as i got it. But after driving it fora couple of hours it blew on me. My guess is that it was just sitting for too long, or it was abused heavily before I got it. I also put a japanese engine in my honda prelude when I had it and had nothing but problems with it. There was a vaccuum leak somewhere so I couldn't get it to idle, after installing it I had to pull it out again to replace the main bearing since it was just pouring out oil, and then 3 months later it leaked antifreeze onto the timing belt and snapped that.

No compression test because you need a real Mazda Compression Tester. Which is worth Millions of monies. Or thereabouts.

Compression tester on a piston motor is worth a hand-ful of sand.
