Big parking lot, cheap booze & cigs before heading out!
Also make the first stop Waynesboro, VA town closest to the top of the parkway, lots of place to stay, eat etc.

Sounds like a plan. We will stay first night at waynesboro. We may not get to bryson city till late late thursday night. Ordered the Trip TIK from CAA for the entire Blue Ridge Route. Its a crazy long drive. We can always jet off later if required. Its almost as if we may need to stay an extra night out on the road and move our cabin from thursday arrival to friday arrival and just stay the extra night at DGRR sunday.
So get ready guys. Going in a weeks time!

i really want to do this route with you guys and iv been looking forward to it. but i cant do tuesday it needs to be wednesday for me. my passenger needs to go to university on that day. can we just do the original plan and go wednesday?
#133
I don't think we can leave wednesday and do the blue ridge. The blue ridge is just to slow of a drive and long to even consider doing it in one day. What we can do is change our arrival date at the resort to friday instead of thursday. If we do that we just miss the DGRR group cruise on friday and the dam dam meet I think. That is if the resort will let me shift days so late.

I'm thinking we leave tuesday and if another group is a day behind they can meet us at the exit of the blue ridge or some mutual spot? Not to be shelf fish or anything but I may not get this chance to drive the whole Blue Ridge again. Mr Cool you should convince your passenger to skip the day of university. I am sure he can talk to the professor or two and see what he has to read in a book

my passenger has an interview for his course i beleave so he cant miss it but i think i have this figured out on my end.
you guys will be meeting at 7am and driving to Waynesboro, VA where you will be staying the night, then starting the blue ridge the next morning?
if so hes done his interview at 1pm so we could leave straight from there for Waynesboro, VA which is aprox. 9-10hrs drive trafic pending we would get there anywhere from 10pm - midnight. we sleep and then all head out together in the morning. even if we dont get much or any sleep there we can both drive. as long as we can catch up somewhere which seem very possible.
what do you guys think?

There may be a couple of road closures on BRP. Not sure if there still going on, most say they'll end by April 15th.
