One classic problem is forgetting to plug the AFM in. If it senses no airflow it will cut the fuel pump.

Another classic problem is forgetting your ground straps. Make sure the engine is properly grounded. You can put a jumper cable from the neg battery terminal to the engine block as a temporary solution.

TPS is another possibility. How long does the car run before it dies? do you have to give gas to start it? We really need more info.

Could be a Massive Vaccuum leak. I forget the hoses on the lower manifold from time to time.

Yeah, if you miss that one or the emmisions 3/4" hose in the back by the header, it will do what you described.

However, I have no idea what car you have.

That would be me, its a YELLOW plug with two prongs and its got a rubber boot around it. It should be dangling somewhere in the vacinity of the passenger's side (right) strut tower.

However, you can tell if a fuel pump resistor is the problem by simply pulling the carpet up in the back, probing the power wires for the fuel pump with a multi-meter, starting the car and watching the voltage. If it goes from 10-11 to 0 or near zero then the car dies - thats your problem. If it stays up even after the car dies, then fuel delivery isn't the problem.

Yeah my money is on something AFM related. Could even be the SAFC wiring gone wrong.

As others stated real bad vacuum leak could do it too.

I bet a vaccuum leak is the culprit. There are so many.
