alignment shop
alignment shop
I need to get my First gen Rx-7 aligned. Unfortunatly I need a car for and its my only one so I will have to drive it in the winter (student budget). Anyhow I live in Brantford and need a good place to go. I took it into goodyear once and they did not know how to adjust the camber. If anyone knows of any good alignment shops in or near brantford give me a heads up.
Thanks,
Ted

I got mine done at the Tirecraft in Caledonia. About $60 and I was there talking with the guy while he was doing it, could see the adjustments on the screen to. My camber was way off adn they fixed it up.

According to the Guy I took my car to(I have an FC),they said they could only do a 2 wheel alignment, because the car had no camber adjusters for the Rear Wheels.I asked for a 4 wheel alignment, but he said he could not do it,so Only charged me for a 2 wheel alignment.
I know about that. I will look into Tire Craft for sure. Last time I went to go get it done at good year in Brantford they said they couldn't get the chamber and that I probably bent something. I asked if they know what it is that I bent, they had no idea. My solution was to take the whole front suspension apart and measure everything up. Low and behold everything was the same.
Thanks for the info so far, keep it up lol!

I got a 4 wheel alignment a couple years ago on my FC. I cant recall who did it though, I think Baskin and lane.
Unless they charged me for 4 and did 2, Im pretty sure they did all 4.

Adjustable Toe?.haven't seen that.,Is that the 21 mm Bolts that holds the DTSS(Toe Eliminator) bushings on?..The rear spindle assembly is only held on by 3 bolts.NO Bolts That I ever took off of there were adjustable.Just an Outright Pain in the *** to get off doing a Five lug swap. The Subframe link is not adjustable Either..That is why RacingBeat and Mazdatrix has the Pieces to add on to the FC so you can have the camber adjusted on Rear. The one piece may adjust the camber but does so Unevenly,That is Why I am going with the Individual ones when I upgrade the suspension..Just my 02 ..I will be corrected if my info lacks the Total truth!
I can't believe this discussion. Just go out and look under the back of your cars.
Look at the rear control arms on an FC. You can see at the front of the outer arm, the head of a bolt that is connected to an eccentric plate. You turn the bolt and the eccentric turns and "VIOLA" the one side of the arm moves in and out and pivots off the located inner arm mount and you get a toe change.
There is no factory camber adjustment in the rear, but this can be accomplished by either using the Racing Beat Camber Adjusting Rod or similar. Another more accurate and flexible way is to make individual camber adjusters by using rod ends and threaded tube. This type of setup gives you individual control arm adjustment for camber within a certain range. I have both the main macro rod and the individual arm camber control struts on my race car.
It wasn't asked, but I thought I would throw this in. On the stock front suspension, you can control toe with the tie rods. Camber and caster have 4 adjustment points based on the relative mounting position of the upper strut mount. If you rotate the mount around, you can change the camber and caster within a degree or so. Any more change required will require new upper strut mounts with camber and caster adjustment. The interesting thing is that to get a race required camber and caster, you have to actually cut into the upper strut mount somewhat. For racing you can never have enough caster, LOL.
Getting back to the shops, there is little point in doing a 2 wheel alignment on an FC. The front stays relatively well in adjustment. I have found that the rear goes out of adjustment pretty easily, especially if you like to roast the hides or have hit a hole with just one rear wheel. There is a lot of stuff moving in the back of an FC and a lot of wear items. Most shops don't want to touch the back of an FC as the rust has more than likely made the rear toe adjusters useless.

Camber can be adjusted ways. The strut towers can be unbolted (4 bolts at the top) and rotated. Also the strut bars running from the lower control arm to the front crossmember under the rad have adjustment.
