Air Intake 2nd Gen n/a

I know there lot's on this on the search....way too much to follow...
Anyway...after searching on this on the forum I realized that the Racing Beat K&N Air Intake for a 2nd Gen n/a was not that good.... if it's set up just "as is"...under the hood (Air Intake get's only hot air). Therefore, I removed it and put back the original Air Intake.

Well to bad so sad...after spending $$$ on this, I should of did my home work first.

Very simple question...will this "RB - Air Intake" fit anywhere, like inside the front of the right wheel well..with pipes...or do I need to get a smaller Air Intake??

The RB one, for a 2nd gen is oval in shape, quite big, and I was wondering if I need to get a smaller one...I hope not... after so many $$$$.

Any advise...

Hey man, don't ditch your filter - it's a good one.

In order for the filter to work well, you need to do two things:
1) Get cold air in.
2) Keep hot air out.

The best way to do this is to build a box that the filter sits in that blocks the hot air from the engine. Then you need to fab some ducting that brings in cold air from outside.

Here's mine:

Page 5 has all the pics.

The stock snorkle WILL NOT WORK as a means of getting enough cold air to the box - unless it is a sealed box. A lot of people will tell you it's fine, but it isn't. They are just kidding themselves into believing that it is good. While some air makes its way through, not enough air will find its way down the tube. It is simple airflow dynamics.

Vented headlight covers are a waste of time too. There is just too much in the way for enough air to get in.

You can build yourself a cold air box for way less than they sell them for in the states. Just take your time and you will be fine. Search "Cold Air Box" in the FC sections, you'll find a bunch of threads.

All the pics are there, you just have to go to Page 5. The links on page 1 have expired, so I reposted the whole writeup on P5.
