ON 1st gen parts, where?

Just got my self a 1st gen (GSL-SE). Where do people get the regular maintenance parts? I was at the Mazda dealer and asked them how much for the air filter and they said $75!! Obviously not going to get it from them. So, is it Crappy Tire, Parts Source, NAPA, ??

And good luck with that, most of the time you have to order the parts, even stupid things like the slave cilinder, starter etc. Many auto parts do not stock RX7 parts.

Spark plugs,Cheap on Ebay..seriously.
Rock Auto has some good prices, and even with shipping you are ahead of the dealer.
I only go to the dealer if the part is "out of the ordinary".
Then again I am SEC GEN.
Common parts I get through Napa.Recently Car Quest as I couldn't get a waterpump under 200 bucks!.I got one for 80.Put it on.
Then found out Rock Auto had them for 35!..FRIICKK!

For filters, spark plugs, dist cap, wires, belts - partsource usually works

For specialty things:
Black Dragon Automotive - Datsun 240Z, 260Z, 280Z, 280ZX and Mazda RX7 Auto Parts and Accessories
MAZDATRIX for Mazda RX7, RX8, Rotary Engine Parts and Accessories
Racing Beat - Mazda Performance Specialists
Atkins Rotary - Rx7 | Rx8 | Mazda | Rotary | Engine | Parts

and if those fail you, the Classifieds section here on the forum is a decent place to find things.

Regular maintenance go to Napa. There filters are made by Wix which is a premium filter. Most parts for any RX7 will have to be ordered but in most cases can be ordered within that same day. If anything keep your business local. If you ever have a problem with a part it can be fixed right away. Trust me, I work at a Napa and the horror stories I hear about defective or wrong parts sent from Rock Auto is a joke! Hey Dave, next time your at your local Napa tell them to look harder! Water pump for a Fc, reman $82.40 or 100% new $111.50 Same day!

I've bought a control arm for my sisters old Ford Escape from RockAuto, even after their shipping which is usually expensive it was half the price of what Canadian Tire wanted. Also showed up in only a couple days, that's why it's expensive shipping. I like Mazdatrix for hard to find parts like wiper arms, body seals, etc. You can peruse the site like a grocery store and get everything you've been needing that Canadian Tire can't find. I usually call around the local places first but if that's a no go I head straight to Mazdatrix. General maintenance I've found Napa to be the most useful, second being Carquest.

NAPA for me as well for most parts, although they were still pricey for rear shocks on my 79, but the parts were good quality. I found the best deal on spark plugs at carquest. Had to be ordered of course since im pretty sure very few other cars use BUR7EQ's.

Ive used rock auto quite a lot and been impressed by their prompt delivery and accuracy of parts ordered. Most problems there I suspect stem from lack of knowledge of what equipment is on ones vehicle.

If you are looking for auto parts then I would like to add another source here in your store list which is hiperformer.com
Here you can easily find almost all auto parts and engine parts with cheaper price tag when compared to other online sources.

I've purchased from Blackdragon a bunch of times. (Door seals, front/read suspension & steering, fuel filters, distributor caps/rotors, hoses, badges, bolts). Some of the parts are OEM from Mazda while others are not. So far so good.

For maintenance related parts like fuel, oil & air filters, I generally buy two or three at a time so I always have a spare. Parts are getting harder to find.

Would you have a brake master cylinder for a GSL-SE by chance?

Edit: NAPA, carquest, and parts source say nothing in the country!

haha I do have a master, I use car quest and APC. the important thing is get to know your parts guys well. the NGK spark plug number has recently been changed so you need to supercede it. they don't always go to that effort for everyone.

Black Dragon is pricey but has almost any part that you'll ever need. Lordco manages to provide me with consumables like spark plugs, air filters etc. for a reasonable price. Mechanical parts like calipers, clutch cylinders, differentials etc. you can find by looking at the Pick n Pull. There are some rare treasures to be had for a very low price in there.
Last but not least, a simple search on Kjiji.ca for mazda rx-7 parts in your region should yield tons of available parts and even reasonably priced project cars and parts car for sale. I personally bought a GSL-SE as a parts car so that I could have spares on hand for the next couple years. I scrapped her out to the bare chassis and cleaned, sorted and stored all usable parts including door seals, sunroof and hatch seals, struts, differential, radiator etc.
