shitty picture, but the battery tray and compressor and lines are removed. I am thinking of putting the battery in the passenger bin...undecided again. More work...

I'm guessing either a restraining order or a tribal tramp stamp.

What causes those markings?

Then I took a minute and took a wire wheel to the front cover - need a smaller one since the bench grinder couldnt get into the tight crevices.

There is some grooving in the chrome surface. I cant decide if I should piece together an engine or pick up an FD block and refresh it. I'm not looking to make a ton of power...

looks like mild detonation problems on the housings. As far as the gouges, I wouldnt know where to start but Id say the apex seal spring locked or something. I am more familiar with piston motors and those marks woulda been from the ring lands. if you can hone or machine them out and go with longer apex seals than it might not be an issue. good luck man. let me know when we are having a meet to work on your car I dont have any major work that is needed so it would be mostly your car

There aren't any gouges though! its just dark marks. I'll let you know when things get going. I'm sourcing parts and trying to make some extra income so I can build this thing right!

Please check out my for sale thread in the 2nd gen section and North East section as well! Need to fund this rebuild.

I feel like a bit of a tard. I picked up some irons and rotors without even thinking about this. I got some FD rotors (how can i verify?) and what flywheel do I need to use? remember this is an NA drivetrain. S4...

I gave a buddy of mine a buddy of mine my new center iron to glass blast. I'd say it came out pretty nice! Now I dont have to scrub it to clean it and I have a nice clean surface for painting. I'm gonna give him the rest of the parts and clean em up as well...

The porting looks shoddy. I dont really see a bevel on the upper edge? Hard to tell. Hell it really doesnt even look ported. haha

Loving the steering wheel!

Tough to say. But... cracks only get bigger, they don't get smaller. And that one running through the water seal area could get iffy.

Trying to source a good set of irons....No one local seems to have anything decent.

Probably going to end up borrowing some money from my dad so I can get this project moving and out of his garage so he stops complaining

Still undecided on apex seals... Leaning towards ALS or Goopy...with an OEM rebuild kit to go with that.
