Shaolin7 - My Build & Questions
Hello Everyone, I know this is long overdue as I'm approaching the 10 year badge (I was in highschool for 4 of those years and driving a Jalope 88 gxl with a rusted floor!). But I can finally say that my build is almost 90% complete and I can now start some serious questions. It's be a journey and I think my total bill is around $18,500 with a freshly painted 1990 body (150,000 kms on odometer).
That being said I will start with the list of what I have done and move on to some of the more interesting questions.
Engine
- Fog lights installed to pass safety inspection, I will likely change out when I go with a body kit at a later point.
So onto the next set of things. Looking at my list I am currently running 10psi boost un-tuned and scheduled to take it for the dyno tune this winter, possibly next spring. I would like to push it up to 14 or 15psi as my ultimate goal is to hit the 400-450hp. My coworker is looking at buying a Corvette for the $30,000 mark so I would like to make sure my build can keep up with his purchase. I am sure by the time I get rims, body, and suspension done I'll be approaching the $25,000 anyways.
- 15 psi sustainable? Do I tune for 10 psi for current springs and then adjust the profec up while near a dyno?
- I was hoping this build alone would take me into the 400hp range. Without the Dyno I can't really tell. It does go like snot though when the boost hits... slightly later than I guy would like.
- My thoughts are my next step is to work on suspension. Agreed? With Ronin tri-point fenders I am hoping to squeeze the widest 17s I can.
