Chrysler 318 swap questions
Hi i am considering doing a small block Chrysler swap into my fc do to a lack of available decent rotary engines in my area n me needing my fc on the road as quickly n reliably as possible. I have a 318 with harness and 5 speed ecu and ive found a few cheap new venture 3500 trans missions ive done all the research as far as putting the engine in and bolting it all up and what it wi require the only thing i cannot find a solution for is the fact that the fc shifter sits approx. 10 inches further back then the new venture shifter im sure with the engine trans bolted up and actually in the car i can make up for an inch or 2 of the distance between the trans shifter and the shifter location in the tunnel ive accepted i may have to do some trimming on the hole n moving the shifter location up some but id still like it to look factory when done as far as the stock boot and all going back in without having a rigged trashy looking hole way further forward then it should be. Is there anyone who knows of a shifter extension or linkages or adapter or something of some sort to correct this issue with doing a v8 manual trans swap? Ive racked my brain countless time and all ive came up with is a long custom bent shifter maybe? But i fear if i go that route it may either hit on the trans while going into 2,4,r or hit on the tunnel going into 1,3,5 and id like to avoid doing any shoty or questionable work on it so any input or ideas from someone with more experience in this area would be much appreciated this is the only thing stopping me from commiting and collecting the rest of the parts i need for this swap. Thanks in advance.

Is that 10" a real measurement or a guess?
Because if it's accurate, that puts your shifter blooming out of your heater box/dash.
Most swaps I've seen might have to deal with much less offset, are there any other trans options available?
If the trans was used in more than one application, perhaps different tailshaft extensions exist that would work better.

or.... just hear me out on this: Buy a different Daily driver! Build the 7 as a project. FFS.
Pickup a MK4 jetta/golf with the 2.slow engine for under $2k and they are ******* tanks. I beat the **** out of mine and It will be seeing 200k miles on factory installed piston rings no problem.

I think the actual measurement was about 8 inches difference in shifter locations.. And the only other suitable trans would call for either a 600 dollar bell housing swap or to do an auto trans wich id never shame my lovely fc with an auto trans lol i like shifting gears too much
As much as a volks appeals too me im picky on front wheel drive vehicles lol i have a ram i just lu an engine in now as a back up wich should hopefully be on the road soon so i guess my poor seven will just have to sit till i can afford a good stout rebuild on the rotary.
