Looks sick^

Now you just have to paint the car to match it and it'll be all set.

Also, got bored last week and took the wheels off the 240 and put on this. The rears fit perfect but the fronts would need wide fenders for sure. I was never a fan of 18"s on a stock body FC, but it actually does looks good in person.

If I had another set of wheels for the 240 these wheels would stay on the FC, but the 240 has brembo's up front and I need at least 17's to clear that....

Some shaky pics that give somewhat of a reference lol

you don't need over fenders for the front....just roll it.

The pic doesn't show it well, but a roll would not be near enough and look awkward for my tastes.

Well, finally put some miles on it. Drove it down to Chicago to the Evolv-Chicago meet. Stayed up all night the night before putting a new turbo oil feed line on, as the old one was leaking just a bit, and I didn't need the car bursting into flames during a 3 hour drive. I've now put a total of 300 miles on it

Some pics I found that were taken.

I'm driving it all this week down here in Chicago, I think it breaks every neck of people I drive past being its so loud and obnoxious, and shoots flames like crazy lol. Its sooo fun dailying it, I never want to go back to the 240 lol.

Also got the Mazdaspeed hood scoop on and painted, but haven't had time to take pics yet.

Well it drove great, and I never got pulled over for the crazy loud exhaust, I did have a cop try and pull out behind me, but I did some strategic evading before he got close

Here's another good pic I found from the meet.

And I couldn't really like the entire intercooler painted the same iridescent color as the rest of the bay, so I repainted the shrouding for it in hi-heat silver. Looks much better.

And I never did take a good pic of the Mazdaspeed scoop mounted, so here are some last minute ones.

And that is the end of the line. I graduate this week and start a new job next week, and the pay sucks for an auto tech until you get a year or two of experience. So until I am able to support putting money towards this, it will stay sleeping under a cover at my parents... I met my initial goals of making it to the evolv meet and driving it for a week in chicago, and nothing broke, so I am quite happy.

Thanks a lot man. I regret selling that GReddy exhaust so bad...

Not too much happening over the past few months. Still running strong. Its been stored for winter for some time now, and its tore apart again lol. Its kind of odd how things in life play out, I went from having plenty of time to work on this but no money, to now which I have the money but no time to work on it lol.

But heres some stuff that got done.

Got it on a lift for the first time at work.

Changed up my exhaust, picked up a Magnaflow offset muffler. Took off the corksport can 'muffler' that was on the back and put this new one in its place. Looks quite stealthy, made a nice turndown that is not too noticeable without really looking. I probably will redo it soon, as the muffler is in at a bit of an angle for it to fit, and it bugs me.
Sounds freaking great imo, its quieter, but still loud. Real aggressive note at low rpms, and smooths and mellows out when boost comes on.

Don't think I took pics of the new exhaust setup yet...

Picked up a new set of wheels for it, some SSR Integral A-2's. Nothing crazy offset or anything, just a normally sized wheel. Don't really want to go all crazy flush or anything. Just want it to look nice and be functional, and not camber wear the **** out of the tires. They are very light, and strong from what I've read.

Still have yet to test fit these on the FC, and I've had them for a couple months. But here's how they fit on the 240 lol. Bought some stock s14 wheels for the 240, it doesn't deserve ssr's

And most recently I picked up a all original throttle body. Then went through cleaning it up and restoring it. Made a step-by-step how to thread on how to go through the throttle body, might help someone out hopefully. Here's the link.

https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generation-specific-1986-1992-17/restoring-your-throttle-body-step-step-guide-what-takes-979364/

Also picked up a BAC valve. Cleaned that up and repainted it too.

Now I'm in the process of taking the upper and lower intakes off to send them out for polishing.

My goal is for better driveability. Looking to get the coolant lines from mazda that run to the throttlebody/bac. Want the entire system oem and in proper working condition. Every part of the over complicated throttle body is there for a reason, and its stupid to remove any of it on a street driven car.

That's about it. I'm itching to repaint the car, but just need the time to do it. Sending it out to have it done isn't an option, because I want to do it myself. Need to find a complete quarter panel too, as I want to cut and replace the quarter rather than have it sculpted from mud. Oh well, it will happen some day, this car isn't going to ever leave, and I won't be loosing interest in it lol.

The Mazda dealer is usually the best place to start. Or Mazdatrix, as they get OEM parts from Mazda.

http://www.mazdatrix.com/n-1a.htm

FB01-51-360B and FB01-51-370B and they are still available, I just got some last year. You can clean old ones and get them to look really nice, but it won't quite compare to new.

2012...

....

Car season has started... Nah I'll tear it apart for the summer, seems reasonable.

Been pulling crazy hours for work since last fall, so haven't found the time I'd like for this car. Now that its warm out and the days are longer, I can't not work on it lol. Oh, and I recently bought a subaru from a customer at work, it jumped timing and bent 2 valves, and they didn't want to spend the money on it. So some time still needs to be spent on that to put the heads back on and get that going. Once that's done my attention can turn back to the FC...

So, first item of business, is remove that:

Just cut off a donor panel last night from a friend that was nice enough to give it to me for free. Interestingly enough, I found that the donor car had actually had the quarter panel replaced on it at some point in time... Looks like it was done properly, the seems are flawless on the outside of the body where it was welded across at the bottom of the b-pillar. So its definitely usable.

Love those manifolds... You do all of the work yourself? If so, what all did you use??

Some day I will find time to work on this again, the project has been on hiatus as I have other things in life to do and spend money on. As of right now the engine bay is almost all back together and its running again, just need to weld a nipple to the charge pipe for the bac valve, and it will be fully (mechanically) functionable. Hoping this winter to continue with the body work.

And since I have no 7 to drive, I bought the next best thing for a daily. For the first time, I have not bought a car that was cheap and needed a bunch of work. Low mileage and stock, best daily ever.

So, running again, it idles on its own now without help from the throttle cable. Had a problem getting the coolant feed line to seal at the manifold as it was hemorrhaging coolant all over the turbo, but that is straightened out now. But it is fully functional now once again, so I can move it to start on the body work.

I was not the only one enthused about running rotaries today.

Bad dark pic of the now completed but horribly ugly engine bay. Had to throw the top mount back on for now just so its movable.

The more work I do to the car the more things I find that I want to change and fix... I'm tearing the **** out of the path to insanity.
