Rise of The Black Coupe.....Part I: Revive
As many of you know, I sold the convertible to focus my time/money on this car. Its a rust free original 87 Turbo II with a blown motor. Very clean underneath and the paint is good, body is straight, with the exception of a dent behind the drivers door. Interior is all there and clean, just kind of beat up. Has all the drivetrain, and I have all the parts I need to put it together, just need the time to work on it. Right now, its at my parents, and I'm only there on weekends, so I only have time to work on it on the weekends, and even then I'm running around busy with other things, so progress will be a bit slow at first.
The initial goal is to get it running good on a decent setup, reliably, so I can daily it around in Chicago occasionally when I feel like it.
couple Pics I have saved from last week right after I bought it, after its first sponge bath.
The engine that will be transplanted into it:
Some of the parts I have that will be installed are....
-Streetported S4 Turbo II motor
-Corksport turbo back 3" exhaust
-720cc secondaries
-RTEK 1.7 ecu
-BNR hybrid turbo
-TIAL blow off valve
-ACT street/strip clutch
-S4 turbo II full drivetrain
-Autometer gauges
-NGK AFX wideband
-stock TMIC for now
-OMP deleted, running Idemitsu premix
-Full emission delete
-Stainless oil cooler lines
-BBS vert wheels
-Nardi classic steering wheel
Planning on keeping it stock S4 body(even went as far as selling the s5 tails it has on it, and will recondition my s4 tails and install ) Just need to work that dent out, would like to go overfenders, but I won't do that unless I can go wide wheel and coilovers, which I don't have the cash for now.
Interior wise, I plan on changing out any damaged panels for good ones(I like my FULL interiors, and in good shape).
Will post more pics after this weekend.

Well earlier this week a car blew a stop sign and I hit him with my daily driver(which I bought a day earlier). So insurance is coming tomorrow to appraise that. Hope they total it out, then I can pick up a good daily and hopefully have more cash to stick into this.
So I'll probably spend most of my weekend tearing this apart so I can start parting it out.

Correct. FWD ftl in a heavier car. Was crazy fun to drive, besides for the fact that when the turbo spooled, first and second gear do nothing but wheel spin. Has a 16G, its amazing how fast those turbos spool up and build boost.
Was thinking, and I'm going to try and fit that intercooler on the Turbo II, just need to fab up some piping...

Well, the most I've accomplished on this car is getting all the boxes of parts it came with organized, and cleaned the car up. The rate of progress on this needs to change lol.
Been very busy working on the weekends, and in my free time I've been working on the honda. But, planning on this weekend starting in hard on the rx7...
So to kick off the start of progress, just dropped $500 on rhdjapan. Damn I love that site!

Pulled it up to the climate controlled garage yesterday. Cleaned it up real good, and started going through what all it needed. Refinished a set of s4 tails for it(this is the first time I've actually wanted to run s4's lol). Picked up a Top Secret roll cage from a buddy too.
Still stuck on my plans to leave it stock s4 body. The body is not perfect, but I'm not too concerned about the way the body looks as it will be tracked regularly. But the engine bay will have to look perfect.
Might paint my R-Magic wing I have and throw it on, we'll see
The dent I have to massage out yet. Will go to overfenders as soon as I get the money for it.
Top Secret cage.
Edit: and the clock even works!!!

Been working on that dent for several hours now. I wish I had a parts car, I would of just cut that section out and welded a new piece in rather than pounding it out and using filler.
Interior is going to be all business no nonsense. Radio is all deleted, and am setting up a gauge panel. I am going to keep the full interior w/ heater though.
Started taking stuff apart and cleaning it.
Pics of the engine bay before I have done anything.

^Yeah the stock-body s4 look is growing on me a lot lol.
Discovered the car was repainted at one point in time. Can't find any evidence of an accident except of course for the dent.
Put in the Nardi steering wheel.
Got about 3/4 of everything stripped out of the engine bay to prep it for painting.
Body work progress pic: Pounded out the dent the most I could, and applied some filler over that. Got it roughly smoothed out and formed to shape, just need to put ona couple coats or so of filler and do some fine sanding.
And my gauge setup I'll be running. Have boost/oil pres/water temp/EGT all Autometer. Just need to find a volt gauge yet.

is that bondo brand body filler? Alot of guys dont prefer it, there is better stuff out there. If i recall, bonda is a bitch to sand and gets alot of pin holes AND SHRINKS . But its like the only stuff they sell at auto parts stores without going to a body supply shop. I prefer Evercoat Rage Gold filler. Probably be ok for now but next time Id consider something else in the future.
But car is coming along nicely!

^yes. Haven't had any problems with pin holes, but yeah it takes some work to sand it. This is just a temporary fix, as I am planning going widebody within a year. I have the money now to buy the widebody fenders, just not wheels I want to go with it, so I'll put all that off until I can afford to do it all correctly.
