They're not WRX springs, they're just Impreza ground control coilover sleeves with eibach 2.5" race springs.

They are fine. They actually lifted the car about 1.5 inches off the ground on their lowest setting.

That is scary enough for me to tell you the truth. When I see the pictures of the car, it scares me how much they non-loaded corner lifts.
(this is the reason why I did not remove the rear sway bar).

They are not too harsh though, as I need them to travel and take the bumps.

Overall, they are more unstable than the stock ones due to the height (even though they are about twice as hard), but the ground clearance is a plus.

Hell, we even had to weld the floor while on the stock suspension because it got cut by stones like a tuna can!!

Disappointing second event of the season.

I was only able to get 2nd place on my class. But the difference was about 15 seconds with the first one.

But I am not mad with the results. We know why we got that number and the data we got at the event was VERY valuable for future events.

I will update as soon as I can confirm it.

A couple of pictures of the event taken by Eric Helgesen




You can see how much higher the car is with the new suspension. Its the "tallest" Rx7 I have ever seen



But the car still drops too low when under load. It is mostly due to the blown KYB AGXs on the car.....

I need to find replacement shocks soon that would work with the ground control springs.......

I have been thinking about Blisteins... but I do not wan to spend that much money right now....

yeah shock options for ours cars in our appilication is more of a SWAG lol.

for my rally FB which has all FC front everything, im using an inverted monotube Bilstein 40mm with 8" stroke and a 225lb 12" spring (2.5 ID) the softer spring allows for good use of travel, but overall is still pretty firm. This is with no sway bar.

what is the spring rate of that spring your running?

I am still thinking about that. I need to get stock shocks so I can get Bilsteins, but I could not find neither stock shocks in good shape or Bilsteins for off-road racing for this car.....

If you find an RX7 in good shape (engine wise, the rest is easy to find or replace) do it.
Either the RX7 or the Miata are the best candidates for Rallycross.

How did you get those Bilsteins? Did you custom order them?

The spring rate is 225 front and 200 rear I believe. But they are 9" long I believe.

At their lowest setting the car is almost 2" taller. Which makes me think about leaving the sway bar on because if I roll too much while sliding, I can end up upside down.

Well, the season is almost done, and we are close to getting 1st place for the year once again.

So it is time to put the car for sale!

I have a baby on the way, so I will be selling it to get some funding. Besides, I will not have as much time to race anymore..... Here is some info:

1988 Mazda RX7 Rally Car

Car originally built for SCCA Stage Rally up to 2008. The car is now being maintained and modified by Bilbo Automotive to be up to date with new NASA Rally requirements.

* Mod List:

- Finished and updated 6-point Roll Cage (NASA-Rally standards).
- 2 Skid Plates under the car.
- Updated MOMO racing seats with custom seat brakets. (Up to date)
- Updated Gforce 6-point harnesses. (Up to date)
- Gutted Interior (panels, carpet and sound deadening.
- Weight removal on several areas.
- RB headers with custom pick up tube for secondary injectors.
- Custom exhaust work by Bilbo.
- Raised 2" with custom springs.
- Sunroof delete. Replaced with aluminum.
- Installed aluminum roof vent.
- Full size rear view mirror (180 degree view).
- All fluids changed.
- All gaskets changed.
- New exhaust system.
- New audio system and stereo for transit.
- Interior dash painted black.
- Aftermarket steering wheel.
- Rebuilt B13 Rotary engine.
- Two tone (red-charcoal) paint.
- Rally Computer.
- Braided oil cooler lines.
- Braided brake lines.
- Short shifter.
- Turbo II rear differential.
- Fire ext, spill kit, first aid kit, emergency hammer and triangles.

Ok, this is the last post I am going to be writing about her.

We did get the championship on Modified RWD before the sale. We are very happy that we could make it and win two years in a row, but we are sad that we had to sell her.

I hope she is as good to the new owner as she was with us.

Yeah. It sold a couple of months ago. It went to Oklahoma.

I put it for sale here on these forums but I did not get much interest. Only got interest on Rally Websites.
