I was thinking to investigate different sway bars to combat this, but in reality, I would run the gxls with new rubber on a track day. Just garage queen and puts around town on the Japanese royalty

Not much, but I am back in full swing again. Well, I say that but it is still winter till mid may here, so all things are off the table. Nature loves to tease us with a few good days:

It was an adventure and a HUGE moral decision to not just do collector plates this year. A big reason is I drive past a city cop shop fueling station not even 2 city blocks from my place of employment. Only so much a white guy can get away with.

As a fun bonus to anyone who gives a flying hoohaw, I have been having loads (have not been) of fun doing strut mounts on the jetta and have been considering doing some film for it if anyone had interest. ( you don't )

More mudding in the garage, and jetta is tight like a tiger again up front. Other then that, nothing great to share. Paying off those sweet wheels so I can buy tires worthy of them, and debating putting the rear sway on again. Car is soo stiff I have not missed it much, but I have a hunch with more/better rubber on the ground the under steer will be apparent. Granted, I have yet to feel under steer on my normal shake down route, but a track day is a different story.

Meh, till the next one.

Just checked in for the first time since September! I mistakenly thought that I was still following up to December so while watching the videos I don't remember the new exhaust, or the parts rx7 being gone? The new rims look sick man. It's nice to see you got the car out and about with minor unstoring issues. I've got the same issue with weather, having been able to commit to any real work because every week it's just back to miserable and cold again.

Yeah, ol red was sold off to buy new rubber for the GXL wheels, and the exhaust is the same as before, RB collected down pipe, to factory punched cat, to (presumably) factory y-pipe and Bosal Replacement mufflers and (presumably) napa tips. Sounds pretty good for being **** right?

Not sure who has it now, but I had the chance to buy ol red back. Not that I want to with it being so rusty, but ran great on the original keg at over 170k miles. was a fighter like clokkers

Oh cool yeah it does I really like the look of the exhaust, still better than the eBay one I had to settle for.

Yeah it's true although you learned a lot from the red one it would probably just be in the way, pretty sweet mileage though, quite a bit above average from what I've read.

If you've lost fluid but can't see where...guess what?
It's coming out the back of the master and leaking inside the firewall.

Thanks, spectre!

Yep, I suspected as much, and without getting "too deep" and shining my flashlight on the clutch rod where it meets the firewall in the classic "icemark position" it appeared moist. At any rate, both are being replaced with new as I am tired of things I have not replaced or repaired creeping back up on me. something that sits for 20+ years has gremlins. Surprisingly, I bled the system for the clutch before ( I thought I did anyway ) and the fluid that came out tonight was chocolate mud turds, like... this whiskey coke I am sipping is more see through then the demon splooge that exited the clutch system.

Get a new hose too.
And a speedbleeder as long as you're at it.

oh god, you read my mind as I LITERALLY was just price shopping the rock auto. Sitting here like.. "hmm, I should get a speed bleed for my clutch to match my brakes" Debating just plopping TII parts in for the inevitable.

Granted one man bleeding is not all bad with the mighty vac if you can get it zip tied tight enough at the nipple. Rumor is there is a kit to "push, verse pull" from the master reservoir to make it even less tedious, but really nothing beats those speed bleeds once you have them. Oh, how I love them to pieces on the brakes.

I'm surprised you couldn't smell it inside the car. It's the tell tale just like a leaky heater core.

yeah, never noticed it in the car. still has a potent 80's musk going on, and usually only gets taken out when its sunny and warm so the windows are typically down. That, and it gets driven spirited most of the times its out. I was going to pull the carpet back this weekend and truly see if that is where it is going. I suspect the nipple at the slave more though at this point. It is always "a tad moist". moot point however, because I am replacing it all along with a stainless line from mazdatrix.

I've had the wheels off and can confirm nothing rubs. My only thoughts are the solid bushings amplifying the diff noise from the redline fluid.

Quite possible. Did you rebuid the diff or just change the fluid?

I don't know about Redline diff fluid per say but, I changed the fluid in my in my totally different car ('06 RSX-S) and it did get a little louder. They are notorious for 3rd gear pop-out and grinding and the fix is Amsoil Synchromesh. I had to drain it (the Amsoil) to do a clutch and holy cow! That stuff was really dirty and some small metallic slivers ran out also.

I'm guessing the different oil may have had different detergent properties and loosened some of the stuff that had settled in the bottom and corners of the transaxle. Just something to think about in the future.

It honestly couldn't hurt to flush it again after I ran it for a year now. Who knows what I loosed up after finally giving the car some much needed love. Then again, It sat for the better part of 20 years, then I shove synthetic into it and romp the hell out of it. I very well could of fucked something up. Still drives fine and everything so I am not too worried about it at this point. I'll have my buddy who does a lot of track car work take a look at it and see what he thinks.
