Reason why your changing to the 1jz? You plan on using tech2 mounts?

I've been a rotary loyalist for 7 years now and ive just dealt with too many blown motors and poor mpg's but i still love my fc.
after riding around in a bone stock 1jz-fc that was fast, reliable and got 28 mpgs i couldnt justify continuing another rotary build.
I know its going to hurt the balance of the car but ive read on people retaining as well as a 51/49 weight ratio with the 1jz, plus it's a full interior, full everything street car
I want to do a 400hp build which is as simple as bolt-ons and a single turbo in the 1jz
I do not plan on using the tech2 mount kit, i was going to custom build it to save cash and make sure i get the motor as low and far back as possible and retain a stock tii hood.

well the 1jz plan has changed and instead I'm doing a 6 port turbo build!

I will be running ~14 psi and hoping for 300-350 whp.
no water or alcohol injection for the time being.
swapping to a TII front cover for oil drain, t-ing off the stock oil pressure sender for oil feed

Any comments, questions, criticisms much appreciated

So far I have:
I have a full 20g GReddy turbo kit
-td06h turbo
-turbo manifold
-r08 47mm wastegate to open dump
-turbo inlet duct

s4 TII turbo manifolds (to be port-matched to 6 port block)
s4 tII simplified TB
s4 tII throttle cable
s4 tII MAF
HKS ssqv BOV
HKS turbo timer
550cc Primary Injectors 900cc Secondary Injectors
Full straitpipe 3" downpipe back exhaust
fuel cut defender
stock n332 ecu
autometer pro-comp boost guage
Name: IMAG0037.jpg
Views: 81
Size: 32.0 KB
obviously the charge pipe and BOV pictured wont be used as I will be using a FMIC

still need:
rtek 2.x ecu
wideband (sold the lc1 I had)
s4 TII map sensor
s4 TII BAC
a good S4 TII differential

Update: Rtek 2.1 and innovate lc-1 wideband are on their way, I got the turbo kit all hooked up, but need to modify the wastegate to clear the downpipe oh so slightly. the godspeed FMIC kit only needed the piece of piping trimmed up that runs off the turbo, now it fits great.

Still need a BAC and diff, but those can wait

what's left to do:

sort out oil feed and drain lines
wire in wideband + guage
hook up boost guage
wire in turbo timer
wire resistors into injector harness
make EGR and ACV block off plates
Tune
Enjoy!

no water or alcohol injection for the time being
throw one in for piece of mind
It doesn't have to be crazy or dyno tuned or anything. It's a separate system and it's pretty straight forward. Plus they aren't that expensive when you factor in all the other money spent...
I used to run that turbo on my ported TII motor. It hit like a sledgehammer in 3rd gear around 4500RPM+ @ 15psi
Not sure how it will work on a 6 port with the stock AFM though.

Build looks clean, good work.

I would like to do AI in the future, but getting it running and tuned is priority. When I have an extra $500 and a free weekend though..

I pulled this turbo setup off a 10ae, with 180k, stock ecu, stock injectors, full exhaust.(i bought it that way) I can not fathom how it never blew up. Pulled pretty good.

Today: Got the resistors wired into the injectors harness
Made a guage bezel
Installed autometer procomp boost and oil pressure guages
made BAC, ACV, EGR and subzero start block off plates
Finished the oil feed line
Fuel system, manifolds and intercooler piping finished

To do: tap front cover and finish oil drain
Install turbo timer
Install wideband (arrives July 1st)
Install and tune Rtek (arrives tomorrow)
Tab throttle body elbow for nitrous fogger

Will be running ~11 psi (wastegate spring force) until I decide to tackle tuning with 900cc primary and 1600cc secondary injectors.
Can't wait to hit the street with this setup!

Wideband came early! Installed that and the Rtek!
Tonight i'll finish off the nitrous, wire the turbo timer and tap the front cover.

Then I just need to pick up some fresh oil and a short length of hose for my oil drain line

Lastly I need to find an older laptop with a compatible port for the palm cable, once that's done I can start filling in my timing maps, then hit the streets to start tuning fuel!

been slacking and only got the oil return line finished..

ive been demotivated by this USELESS palm the rtek uses. I bought an adaptor to use the hotsync cable with a usb port HOWEVER palm hotsync isn't supported by 64-bit operating systems, like that of my laptop. so i can atleast return that $37 cable. went out to the barn and dug out our old windows 98 era laptop, which had the db9 serial port! but has no wireless capabilities, nor highspeed internet capabilities. its too old to recognize a flash drive. my current laptop wont accept a floppy disc and the pocketlogger program wont burn to a disc in a format which can be used in an pre windows xp laptop. that being said I'm going to have to try to find a friend with a compatible pc, until then, my rtek is useless. The android capability for the rtek needs to be out now.

is there a palm emulator you can run on the computer? Or that won't work under 64bit either?

virtual machine on windows 7. lets you run XP within 7 and the program wont notice. Best part is its free to do. any IBM or HP, hell even Dell "Business class" laptop will still have a serial port as well. Plus you usually get wireless on business class.

so yes, your 64bit machine can run a 32bit os within itself.

Cars looking good.

I'm setting virtual machine now, looks like tonight will be spent setting up my rtek!

got her running! swapped to 900cc primary's and 1600cc secondary's and it runs like a champ.. minus a 1250 rpm idle that gets extremely lopey with the clutch pushed in. now i just need to run half tank of 87 octane out and fill up on some fresh 93! and tuning can begin!
