Drift/drag/Daily Rebuild. COME ON IN!!
Ok let me start out by saying, After 2 years of owning my RX7 and reading, and searching daily on here. I am ready to post my build thread.
It all started on my first day of my new job, 2 years ago. I was working with a co-worker and we were on break and being 20, employed as a painter with zero experience working with Jason, a 35 year old with years of experience was a little intimidating, after sitting there in an award silence, a custom car of some sort drove past our job site, and I said "Nice", he said the same. At this time I asked him, "what kind of cars he was into" he replied, "imports and mini trucks", and that's where it all began...
We instantly hit it off and have been really good friends ever since.
So, after a week he told me that he had a 88 RX7 for sale for $600 if I was interested. At the time I wasn't. A month later, when I had some real money, and got in better with Jason, I got more interested in this 88 RX7 he said he had. I had never seen an FC before in my life, let alone a rotary engine. After going to his house and looking at the car and seeing it run, and him going on youtube and showing how the rotary engine worked, I was sold! I told him I would be there the next weekend to pick it up.
I went over there the next weekend to pick it up and take it home and he knocked off $200! so I got a running N/A FC for $400! Now at this point I had already decided that I was going to make this car a Drift/Drag/DD (for now) car.
I drove the car for 2 months and decided that I wanted to turbo my NA 6 port.
So I read aaroncake's write up and did it step by step..
When it was time to start it, it started... but the idle was bad, it kept fluctuating from 1500 to 3000 rpms, after I took it for a test drive, it acquired a very bad vacuum leak so I parked it. At that point I wanted to change the plan of my build. I didn't like the cluttered engine bay of the NA intake manifolds, and intercooler piping. So I went with TII manifolds. and decided that I wanted to go with a wire tucked engine bay. so at first I went with megasquirt, but didn't like how I had to modify it more. so there it sat... I then bought a 05 SRT4 for a DD.
The 7 sat on the back burner for a while, and my focus shifted on my SRT. after maxing out the stock turbo on my SRT, I added a .50 Trim turbo to it and began to play with it for about a month. I was heading to my parents house on a Saturday to shoot their new AR-15, I was almost their when my SRT started on fire.
A week later insurance told me that my car was totaled. so there I was with my insurance check and I weighed out my options.. buy cheap car/ Finish RX7, after going back and forth I decided to finish the RX7.
So 1st thing I had to decide what EMS I was gonna use. After months of research I decided the Haltech Sprint RE was The EMS for my needs. I stripped every wire out of the car and decided to run the essentials. Headlights, Taillights, headlight motor, Turn signals, gauges, wipers, and I got a great deal on a MSD 6al and 2 Step box.
Now I have everything wired up and almost ready to start. and now comes my questions since this is my first build I have some questions before I start this thing for the first time in 2 years.

Now I have every wire stripped out of the car and have the car wired to the Haltech and now my question is for the main starting and charging harness i have it wired up according to this. https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...ace+car+wiring
as far as wire gauge that has me wondering here. I have my Battery relocated to behind the passenger seat and i am running 4awg to from battery + to the starter, and 8 gauge from the Alternator to my main power disconnect switch to the battery. now my question, is the 4 and 8 gauge wire sufficient enough to run or should i go to 2 or 1 gauge?

Nice build, it looks 100 times better than before (that n/a IC piping was a mess) That set should do 300hp in its sleep.
As far as the wiring, I relocated my battery and used 2 gauge to a central power stud in the engine bay. The stock alt power wire is 8 gauge so that should be fine. The 4 gauge should be fine on the starter, but I personally ran 2 gauge.

Update:
Basemap set

Im waiting on a Vacuum block and a new 02 sensor (sensor burned up in my srt lol)
have a fuel leak now so need to address that before 1st start. Hopefully that's the only thing to go wrong.

Update Ecu is staying online when I try to crank it, I am seeing 240 rpms while cranking. But I think I dont have the ignition coils wired up correctly,
I am going off this:https://www.rx7club.com/1st-generati...wiring-935875/
I know its for the first gen but it should be close, right? like I said I am trying to use the bare essentials, I have looked over the Haynes manual, its seems to be the same as the picture and I think that picture is great. my car is just a race car and runs ignition off a toggle switch, and the starter off a push button. help is greatly appreciated guys!
