With my garage done minus the actual electrical work, running all my lighting off an extension chord, I have started pulling this engine. Luck would have it that I found another engine for sale with good compression that I’m going to pick up.

I’ll have to do a pressure test to make sure it doesn’t have any coolant seal failures and hopefully be able to do a quick swap and have the car on the road within a short time.

What turned into a quick pull and swap has turned into not that because I tried to relive my glory years for my son and fell skateboarding and fractured my wrist. Followed by possibly tearing my rotator cuff. So I’m having a good time.

Regardless, I have this other block stripped down and I’m amazed that the internals on this thing are as good as they are. The exterior of this engine was absolutely the rustiest thing I’ve ever seen. EVERYTHING was rusted. The vacuum nipple on the rear iron broke off. I’m not sure what goes there at this point. So I have to address that and get a gasket set.

don’t mind the water in the floor. I have a leak somewhere.

Considering the circumstance, I'd say you have your priorities right. Better to hurt yourself with him than solo on the car. Good job, Dad.

I tore down my spare engine to a similar stage recently. It still amazes me that the keg looks so small but packs such a punch.

Finally got to work on this thing some and am about ready to pull this engine. Drained the oil and found quite a lot of metal flakes. Definitely some brass or whatever metal the bearings are made from.

So safe to say I spun a bearing.
