I was intimidated by the sea of cones my first couple times out, but after that, it's all pretty easy. Walking the course first is very important, so is taking the first lap easy so you can physically learn the course. After that you can start cutting those times down

Yea I understand, but unless you are dropping serious money to specifically spec your car out for a certain class there is no reason to care what class you are in.

More autox fun! Still learning how to do this. Supposedly it takes years to get good at autox...

not a bad run, barely clipped those cones.
clean car, keep it up
and auto-x is like any form of racing, it takes a lot of time and just doing it to get great at it, but anyone is capable of doing so

I've read some books about what it truly takes to get even kinda good at racing but the reality of it really takes a while to set in. For the three times I've done autox, I've been consistently 2 seconds behind an instructor's run in my car. I laugh and think, ok, another 2 years and I'll be caught up Or perhaps we could get into the exponentials...

That aside, thank you and I'm hoping that the joy of seeking speed will create more speed as I increase my experience

Maybe I should start another thread... I have a Jim Hall Karting School video that I just dug up from February. Also I might be getting a GSR for my daily!

Signed up for more autox on Sep 25th at the Autoclub Speedway.

Unfortunately I seem to have a transmission fluid leak-- will be heading to Neptune Speed this Saturday to see what's up.

In the meantime, the new GSR is a beast. Got it smogged last week at Pomona Smog Test Only for $33 and change. Shocks are blown and thinking of getting Koni yellows. Other than that, no serious issues to deal with (it's not rotary ). I'm just really disturbed that my daily is faster than my garage queen... It's making me consider a turbo swap or an FD sometime in the not super distant future...

Will be in the process of diagnosing my brake fluid leak. It is massive.

Also going to Jim Hall karting in a couple of weeks to finally get a lapping session!!!

I learned how to deflood today. Used this: http://www.rx7.com/tech/unflood-fc.html

Used the miata to jump during the process-- battery was dying. Overall a good weekend.

BMC is done. Fuel filter and in and outgoing lines are replaced. Got new filter mounts-- will go back under to do these real quick sometime soon. The top mount kinda sloughed off because of the brake fluid leak. New spark plugs done while deflooding.

Need oil change, a quick review of brakes again, and a compression test to make sure my stuff isn't messed up!

Also SS14 was the bomb! And mucho thanks to Glen for dropping by during the fuel issue!

So I've made myself into a really poor person because of both cars in the past couple weeks -_-

In the mean time: http://www.driftingpretty.com/index....-series-finals Doing some competition with the girls this Sunday. Let's see how I do given that I haven't had the time or dime to be at Torrance at all! No practice = probably going to run too slow for the race (arrrrrghh!)

But that's ok I guess... Trying to get the FC ready for ladies' autox school on Thanksgiving weekend. I've stretched myself a little thin this time around but I can't NOT try to make any of these races. I couldn't believe how disappointed I felt when the car didn't make SS14.

OH YEAH almost forgot. After the Sunday race, we're going to do a photo shoot with our photographer. Will definitely post pics! Let's hope the weather is compliant. And that the FC's brakes are good enough to drive the weekend (calipers may be bad and cannot afford replacements at the moment)

Getting my autox on again! Oh yeahhhhhh

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KoKYzl-w2AM

My instructors noted my smooth slalom speed application and speed use in slow corners – I tried carrying over knowledge from previous autox about maintaining consistent speed during a basic slalom. I did however have the same problem I had when I went to Jim Hall which was turning in too early. I’m wondering how I’m going to break a habit like that.

Initial time was arguably a 78.487s but my very first run was a DNF lol… My best time was 72.576s and didn’t even tag a cone that time (the day was actually pretty cone free except for maybe 2 hits). I gradually increased my throttle aggression as the day progressed and did what I could to maintain looking ahead always. This is also the first time I did not spin out– I suspect that my weight transfer experiences at Jim Hall worked very well into my practice here. Andrew says it’s like it’s now in slow motion in comparison to the far less forgiving sprinter karts– catching a loose rear end in a car is much easier than doing it in open wheel.

The FC did well too! Very happy to be revving all day long over 5k to redline The buzzer that went off in the video was actually the low oil warning because of a small bit of G at the finish!

I can’t wait to be back again!

Another video of ladies' school but from the outside courtesy a good videographer friend of mine. No sound as it's just a sample and he was also too far away to isolate my revving from everyone else driving the course at the same time.

Awesome videos and progression Sarah! My car should be ready to race again after this winter break then I could join you and the guys again. All I'm waiting on is my front fenders... and I may need to raise my car
