After turbo cooling.

But the intercooler is larger than I anticipated... and the area available on the RX7 is smaller than I remember (its been a while since I had to crack open the hood).

ONE COUPLER SHORT!!!!!!! Damn.

I did a PVC mockup, then a series of 1 & 7/8" exhaust tubing latter... Done. $20 for the couplers $38 for the tubing and $50 for the VW intercooler.

I like how the inlet and outlet are on the same side.that way you don't have tubing all over the place

I know, its a lot less tubing than I thought it was gonna be. I love it.

I still like the V-mount brevity though.

I pulled the gauge cluster to fix the lights and the tac (turns out the connector had come unplugged). And just a heads up about the gauge cluster.... its the devil to plug back in.

I also pulled my steering wheel to see why the turn signal cancelation wasn't working right. apparently due to age the plastic canceler is broken. I haven't checked around but I have no idea short of happening on an FB in a junkyard how I'm gonna get another one.

The intercooler is operational and I haven't run it with the wide band yet, but I don't feel like its running anything other than optimal. Except at idle where it seems to be a bit rich, but a turn of the screw fixed that.

But dyno says "runs like a cold morning" not an AMAZING amount of extra performance, but just a squirt of better grunt.

OH one thing the intercooler did do was make the BOV sound REALLY weird. Like a turkey almost. I love it.

Mazdatrix and Atkins has them, they cost like 5.00, I just had to replace them on all 3 of my cars, very easy, just pull the steering wheel, and they slide on the column right behind the wheel

^^^ sweet. I'll have to get one. I tried to glue the broken pieces back together... didn't work.

Oh and the intercooler has more effect when you're in the secondaries. And if you're using exhaust piping; flare the ends of the piping. The rubber connectors pop off under full boost if the ends aren't flared out.

Driving the other day I noticed a lot of oil on the ground... It was time for my ancient oil cooler and lines to go.

Edit: that's not a shadow its oil.

Fee bay.

I got that intercooler thinking it was smaller than what it is. Turns out its pretty big (in my eyes). I've only seen them stuck in the inner fender on the new VW bugs.

The oil cooler. I like it. I need a new one for my GSL-SE. Does it have an internal thermostat?

No it doesn't. It has a bung on the bottom but I think its more for draining it than for addition of a thermostat.

I'm not too upset about it. I live in a pretty mild climate and I always allow for warm up time.

I don't know about using it on a GSL-SE just because its designed to mount under the radiator like on a S1. But if you're not concerned about 100% perfect fitment you can take a pair of U-bolts and bolt it to the cross member in front of the radiator.

Na, its just a hole. Its the first thing I started poking at.

I basically mounted mine the same way you did... with u bolts to that cross bar thing. But you've a special cross bar thingy.

A vastly improved oil return hole.

Can't wait to get my car with A/C back. The VW is just plain HOT in the summer.

It's bigger than sin. The barbed side is 5/8"; the other side is 3/4 MIP. Got it from Lowes.

I'm using the stock oil return line that I chopped off half way through. After that it runs through some AN line to the 5/8 barb.

Might not win any pretty contests but it won't leak and so I won't have to open my hood as much. And with less hood openings I won't see it as much so it can be ugly (this is really tedious circular logic ).

Before I was using a pipe fitting I tapped into the OMP hole. It had hella thread creep and the OMP has a hole bored along side it that dripped. I was not happy with it. But I got my tuning done and I have everything engine wise the way I want it. So I figured time to go back and get this oil leak sorted.

With all this done, I'm gonna enjoy another winter of driving turbo; then next summer I might do either a paint job or get ballsy (ball bearing turbo that is).

Short shifter from Erick31876.

I don't know when I'm gonna need to cycle through the gears so fast, but if I need to I can. Its like 4 inches from 1st to 2nd.

Its tight. Super tight.

I'm getting used to it. It shortens the left right movement so much I find myself slamming it left and right. The forward backwards movement is pretty good.

I think I'm gonna put the original shifter *** back on it. I like the oe look.

I would like shorter throws but same length lever. I'll probably build one at some point.

A shift **** like this would solve that:

Tall Race **** ? Drift Dialects

I completely agree with the longer in-cabin section and a shorter throw.
