Havn't been on here in a while but at first glance I thought this was going to be about your car... Yours put this to shame though. Also I've moved on to a slammed mk2 jetta and now fully respect driving in ottawa lowered haha

^^^ that v8 Fb is actually a great build, I am not a V8 in rotary lover but this kid has talent!

Isn't there a video of this on YouTube?

sarrrrawrrrr 03-06-13 02:06 PM

Your car is really cool. I need some shorted front struts also. Mine bottoms out in the front over some bumps.

J-LISS 03-07-13 08:53 AM

how much would you charge to replicate front shocks for my FB?

lol, at 5:27 he got to experience first hand the loose steering that most of us 1st gen owners know too well. :)

nothing is new. i've been collecting parts for my FC build. The FB is still in storage. i have some new wheels for it and have an electrical issue to sort out since doing the 12a turbo. the rear has been lowered a bit. i ended up notching the rear frame to allow for a bit more travel. besides that its not a drastic change.

i would be interested in seeing the notches and how much of a drop you got from it, if you have the time to get pics

Wow. Absolutely love this thread.

Its not really worth it without a bunch more linkage changes. i need to pick up some nicer dampers for the rear. The illuminas aren't cutting it as a short stroke damper. i have some potential solutions. As far as ride height in the rear, it will stay the height it is.

culp7 04-11-13 10:49 PM

I'm new to the Rx7 world and was wondering if you think I could run the 15x7s on a stock ride height 81 fb with no spacers or anything? i'm just looking for something nice to slap on and not worry about... I don't really know anything about wheels and offsets and I was wondering if you could recommend a offset for some of the 15x7s if they would fit
?... Btw, sickest 1st gen I have yet to see. Thanks for the answer in advance man

orion84gsl 04-21-13 09:56 PM

I've heard of Camaro rear dampers being used. Maybe look into those. There's a user on here using QA1 coilovers in the rear of his race 7. They run pretty low as well and the parts aren't prohibitively expensive.

Colo23 07-23-13 10:19 PM

Looks great

LokiRx7.1 07-24-13 12:30 AM

Love the thread. 99-03 Camaro rear shocks are the same other than being two inches shorter than the stock rear shocks. I know foxbody mustang rear shocks bolt in as well. I am building rear coilovers and will be using aftermarket camaro shocks as my base.

i didn't know about the camaro dampers but i did find fox body dampers will fit and are shorter. the best ones i've found are the strange engineering ones. $60ea and rebound adjustable

THEWITCHKING 09-30-13 09:05 AM

I love everything about your car. Damn near what I picture when I think about the perfect FB. Do you have any idea what diameter the mk2 supra tube is? I'm thinking I want to attempt what you did with your front since I have extra parts but I would rather just buy some pipe from the store instead of track down a mk2 supra just to cut the tubes off and probably pay more than I should lol

seattle-se 10-29-13 09:39 PM

DMclean do you have a link to the strange engineering coils you are talking about?

DoughRoller 10-30-13 08:37 PM

Check summit for strange engineering ^
