She's home!

Now time for interior, sound deadening, clubsport spec wiring, etc. Time to get rowdy!

My fabricator and I came to an agreement and essentially we had to halt the production of my other car so that both of our businesses could grow more effectively. So, I cleared the car out of his shop and jump-started my *** to cleaning up my house/garage full of miscellaneous parts for Integra, Civic, and Rx7.

I'm in the business of chassis setup and engine calibration now, so here's one of the cars I setup this weekend. Ryan Raduechel's 88mm Chinese Turbo 5.3L LM7 Truck Motor crammed into a 1st Gen Miata. That turbo really gives up over 6.5k where the excessive backpressure is apparent. You get what you pay for on these turbos... $500 turbo and 720whp/700wtq is pretty sick though. I left timing pretty conservative and let her eat. As you can tell, it's buttery smooth (no correction factor either) and the cam to injection firing angle tuning, coil tuning, fueling, etc are all dead on to where I want them now.

Ohh, and I also managed to get my first Visio Professional Wiring diagram together in a couple hours. This is going to be for the ECU to Engine Bay of my 1st Gen Mazda Rx7. The body harnesses are also changing, and there's also another portion of the ECU harness that goes center of car and rearward of car. This is just firewall bulkhead to engine stuff.

That’s awesome that you get to get paid for doing something you have so much passion for. Good luck but I doubt you will be needing it seeing how much work you put into it though it never hurts.

Thank you Sir. It's always appreciated. This build needs to come to fruition soon, so I'm throwing everything into it. No corners cut, no bullshit, just hard work and an insane amount of hours.

Been following this thread for a while figured i would chime in absolutely stellar work is going into this car mate

the network cable is a good use for sensors too !

i took at look at your videos about using the standard FD butterflies; as most people tend to remove them - i'm of the belief that mazda would of spent ages working on these things. Plus you can see their devotion when you take apart an RX8 inlet manifold and how complex that is for the runner lengths etc.. I'm lucky to have found a tuner and a mechanic whom agree as they have worked on mercs where the runner lengths matter and how much volume is sent as the revs go up.

We have been experimenting with the standard FD solenoid, an air tank, drive by wire throttle (rx8), electric pedal sensor all running off a LINK ecu Fury G4+
already it appears to assist with the cold start (quite an issue with pure e85)
hoping it will provide more torque lower in the rev range
increase drive-ability

Soon to be testing all this on the dyno

im wondering if you had any tests of your own? or threads you can share?

Beautiful work and thank you for the kind words.

Did you get a chance to see the videos of me explaining the theories behind it all? It should work better in practice on a rotary than an inline-4, which I based my vacuum pod/solenoid equipment from (H23A VTEC motor to be exact). Not sure if you were ever a Honda guy, but the large crossover induction noise that people commonly refer to as VTEC KICKIN IN, is actually these "IABs (Intake Air Bypass) which dumps open around 250-400 RPM before VTEC crossover.

I'm leaving my main job here in California and focusing on building a new race motor for my daily driver (1992 Honda Civic EG Hatchback). Once that's completed, I'm picking up an ABCD Harness from Emtron and wiring the car up. The final fabrication is going to have to wait until the interior, electrical, and plumbing is dialed. That's where I'll focus the rest of my year.

Cheers mate,

-Ryan

Drift Knuckles Taken Off

Custom Ball Joints still on the car

Mazdaspeed MS-02s are staying. I was almost ready to sell them and said, "**** it, I'll make the money elsewhere."

ARP Extended Studs

ABS Tone Rings

ABS Sensor and ABS Knuckle

Oh yeah, so now I'm going to set up traction control on the Emtron KV8 ECU. Debating now on picking up the ECUMaster PMU16 to replace my factory fusebox too... Already ***** deep, what's the worst that can happen?

Getting started on the 2x ECUMaster PMU16s to CANBus through to the Emtron KV8. Not bad for the first day at it!

Here's the update for a few more hours of work...

PMU #1

PMU #2

Plenty more to do still, but this is a good start.

Looks like you're getting down to the last few planned outputs. I don't see flip up motor control, I had to monkey around with shared supply between hi and motor as well as low and motor using funky faux hysteresis settings and some cobbled together circuits/diodes on some PM15 profiles I built.

Nice!

In addition to headlight retractor motors, if you want the PMU to handle cruise control inputs for the Emtron, you'll need 4 more inputs on that list for:
- clutch pedal switch
- cruise set
- cruise cancel
- cruise resume

I assume brake light switch input is from the brake pedal (also needed for cruise).

Also, windshield washer? Door switches (for automated interior lights and security)?

I realise it's still a work in progress, but thought I'd add in case it helped.

Those inputs fill up fast!

Hmm... Time to tear down and start finish welding.

Man, I have a TON of work to do. Trying to see the positives... First day clearing out the car since it left fabrication and I'm seeing damages everywhere.
Well, I guess I get to rewire and upholster everything out of necessity now... **** my life. Damaged Dash, Electrical, HVAC, Windshield, etc. So far there's only minimal rust. Only one approach left; move forward and keep hustling.

Thanks guys for the clarification on the PMU configuration. It turns out the Cruise Control should be through the KV8, as well as clutch pedal, cruise set, cruise up, cruise down.

Totally forgot the windshield washer. Door Switch are a great addition for security!

I think this is more OEM-like. I was making things too complex with splitting up circuits for no reason.

ACC
ON
START
Various Independent Analog Inputs/Outputs
ECU to PMU #2 CAN Started

Next Items to Tackle:
Inter-connectivity between ECU, PMU #1 and PMU #2 with CAN inputs and outputs.

One of these days I'll get my head out of my *** enough to move back to a "normal" schedule. Hopefully this is a move in the right direction with the programming side of things.

Ohh, and since some of you asked... the OEM Harness got torched by my previous fabricator, FFR Fabrication due to negligence.

Uhhh. The ****? Where on earth was he welding to not be hit by the "Better throw a welding blanket over that" fairy with a baseball bat?

On a side note, and you may think this is stupid, I always write a user story before I design/architect functional and back end requirements for projects. It helps me out with A.) analysis paralysis, B.) over complication, and C.) over simplification. I've caught quite a few things with a few paragraphs that start with "I walk up to the car and..."

Think Agile development applied to cars.

This last weekend I was out at Thunderhill setting up drift cars for both suspension and engine tuning. Ran into issues on everything with mechanical failures, that cut our fun short, but the company, as always, was great.

Started to do my 5th and 6th Injectors, UIM Modifications, and a bunch of small tidying up throughout the engine bay. I realized that Nylon e85 Hose via ImprovedRacing is really not ideal for my usage here, so I ordered up a massive amount of stuff for the higher temp required items (turbo, oil coolers, etc).

So most of these lines are planned to be redone and shortened for their tasks. I am simply waiting for fittings to show up.

A buddy of mine is going to help with finish welding of everything, but this was the engine bay prior to disassembly.

Don't worry about this. Once the transmission is mounted, the engine tilts back quite a bit here.

Wastegates are set. 5psi Springs, -6AN Water Fittings, -4AN Vacuum Fittings, and clocked to perfection.

Made a bunch of new lines, routed coolant for wastegates and turbo (on paper), and slowly tidying up the engine bay as I see fit.

Nice choice on the Vibrant vacuum manifold, I put one on each of my vehicles.

Are you keeping the A/C? I noticed one of the lines is still in there.

Yes, AC, PS, Traction Control, Boost By Gear, Primary/Secondary Throttle Staging, DBW, etc. It's a luxury car build, Gran Touring.

Did some stuff in the garage tonight before the heatwave this week.

TrackSpec Motorsports Custom Hood Vent w/ Integrated Gurney Flap.

A few angles of how the aluminum coolant neck and CXRacing Coolant Swirl Pot will have to be modified and merged together for a proper bleeding system.

There is a ton of room under the intake manifold, so I'll likely put my vacuum reservoir (Dual Runner Intake Project) and catch can under here. The Catch can should work due to this being above the highest point in the engine. Definitely would be interesting to try.

I was hoping to fit my IGN-1A Coil brackets under here, but it's too tall and wide (my oversized alternator is really what stops me).

So instead, the coils can hang out here. A nice, cool area. Still figuring out the new master/booster configuration and I'm thinking Subaru 1"
