so apparantly im terrible at keeping a build thread going

since my last post about getting a second fb for the solid body this is what i managed to do
(pictures will be posted when i get home from work tonight)

-engine swap
the beauty about rotary engines is that their so light that you can do an engine swap alone with the help of some sort of lift

swap went very well

-harness swap
took the harness out of the white car so i can install mine which is 10lbs/4.5kg lighter

-cleaned the engine bay
kleen flo foamy kleen (825) and super clean is probably the best product u can use for cleaning that anti-rust/gunk/dirt etc..
then i repainted to red for an even cleaner look (dupli color fibre and vinyl paint (temporary))

-msd 6a ignition system with stock coils(temporary) installed

so far on the car thats what has been done...not alot since im only able to work on the car once a week :'(

while im not working on the car im at home making custom things to put in...personal touches

-drls
in the front turn signals i discovered that theres a kind of 'track' that devides the front part with the curved part

DOES ANYONE KNOW IF IT WAS EVER USED FOR SOMETHING FROM MANUFACTURER?

so what i decided to do was instal a block of plate in that track dividing the light into 2 parts
the front part i put together a small set of 9 leds...these will be my new drls instead of having the whole light turn on...they will be brighter and will hopefully look like little orange oem foglights
then cutting the hot in run wire..i will turn the side parts into only turn signals

-switch panel
because ill be adding fogs, aftermarket fuel pump, etc...i decided to make myself a small switch panel of about 4-5 switches

this switch panel will be installed in my glove box but it will be small enough so that next to it i will still have enough space to fit documents or wtv

DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THERE WAS A MODEL GLOVE BOX THAT HAS A LOCK ON IT?!

for now that all i can think of that ive done

constructive criticism and ideas are always welcome :P

so reading through my thread again i realized that i missed a very big part

because the frame of the blue rx7 was rusted and would cost way too much to fix (let alone time)....i bought a donor body

the engine was blown but the body and frame were very clean (a small hole behind the passanger seat caused by exhaust with no sheild)

the rx7 i bought is the same year 1985 with a 12a in it just like mine
...except...
came with sunroof..wing (377$ mariah)..2-2.5 straight exhaust(200$)..weber side draft carburetor(550$ racingbeat)..RB intake (265$)...msd 6a box(180$ amazon)...aftermarket fuel pump with simple regulator (250$)

all this for a total of 700$ CDN plus 300$ towing

couldnt pass up this deal..even if it was 3 hours away

sorry for all the small icon images..its just faster to catch up to where i am presently

i played it smart with this car and didnt take anything apart besides what i was working on...engine swap

undid all the bolt ons and moved them to the side
took out engine tranny
cleaned the bay a little
and swapped in my old engine which was running perfect before i took it out
rebolted the boltons
tadaa one man engine swap

unfortunately i dont have pictures of this...took me 2 days to take one out and put the other one in..proud of myself

then was the wiring harness swap
took off my dash and took all the wires out
if u recall i brought the old harness home and stripped it to the necessities..
layed both harnesses next to eachother (crazy difference in size) so i knew "the path" of where they all ran
(i just cant seem to find any of my pictures -_-)

anyways
i plugged all the wires in and positioned them properly
then i cut and added connectors to all the wires running along the driver side

in the pictures youll see a before pic where trhe person before me just put wires everywhere and and after pic with my stripped harness and (temporary) connectors for the tuck

havent been posting alot on here because i only get to work on the car once a week and lately all ive been doing is organizing my wire tuck and untangling the **** under the dash! HEADACHE!

wire tuck is almost finished tho and i will be removing the engine this or next month for sanding and painting the 1st layer of the engine bay

but while ive been home ive been working on something that will accelerate my money income for my project

Dumb question, what do you need this for? You're running N/A 12a right now right? Just curious.

I've been entertaining the idea of making LED tail lights for 1st Gens for over a year now. Just for a cabin fever thing here in MN, I'm sure you can relate

Here's my thread, didn't get too far with it though:
LED Custom Tail Light Idea W/Pics - Help Appreciated!
I know I have one spare tail light housing but not sure if I have both sides. The one I have is really crappy so I have no problem wrecking it for the build.

Pretty interesting build so far, good luck with it!

its a simple yet kind of long process...gotta remove the oem beehive cooler that came on the car..then run a line from there to a relocated filter pedestal..from the filter run a line to the front mount then a line back into the engine.

i remember reading your thread a while ago! each led needs to have a resistor attatched..to know the resistor size check out this site : Current limiting Resistor calculator for leds

im making mine on a board t create an insert that i can put behind the colored plastic lenses of the tailights..but mine are for 3rd gen rx7s just to make some money for my build :P

thanks for the support
