With a fully charged battery installed, remove all spark plugs and plug them back into their respective wires. Drape all the plug wires up on top of intake manifold to ground them. Have your helper crank engine for 30 seconds to a minute.

Observe all spark plugs for color and quality of spark. Color should be blue and all plugs should fire consistently with no dropouts. Report back results. Have your helper monitor tachometer needle in dash,it should wiggle while cranking engine.

Quick way to determine if both Leading and Trailing ignition are operating correctly. If so,we'll move on,if not we'll diagnose what the problem(s) may be.
I 'll watch this thread.

Not to pester the helper, but is there a reason why when turning the distributor by hand the fuel injectors wouldnt fire but when grounding on ecu pinout they would?

Second, I should be able to gather a helper by this weekend for the firing test

If referring to me as helper...i can't answer that question at the moment. At some point the answer will be clear. Systematic diagnostics is what we are going to do to eliminate components/wiring as cause for no start. Prove part(s) bad/good and move on to next component/system. No guessing/parts replacing.
Hope no prior damage done to ecu by shorting injectors to ground.

Meant no harm but was meant as a compliment just hard to find a better word on short breaks at work.
Yeah yeah totally agree with systematic checking of parts looking to reinstall fuel tank this week after a cleaning.

Reinstall a pick up sock before installing tank.
