Congrats on the new fb!

Now, how badly do you want this to be a drift car?
The reason I ask it that the 12a will not make much power, and the fb's have a pretty small parts market unless you want to start getting creative or throwing around some money, or both.
If you are wanting to compare this to say an older corolla then yes it's kind of the same principle as far as light 80s japanese car with not much power, but the old ae86s have a better rear suspension design and a much larger aftermarket available to them.

This all isnt to say it cant be done. It has with a fair amount of success. Just search "slammed_GSL" he is a forum member here that has a very nice drift fb.
Also Driftlanta is another guy.

Some literature:

Suspension wise look at re-speed.com
http://mrcmfg.com/catalog/index.php?...df8bcd68206ca0

Brakes you can upgrade to 2nd gen turbo brakes, again ala re-speed.
If you are unwilling to do a motor swap I would imagine you might be unwilling to do any serious engine work, right off the bat...

SR is now doing stock carb modifications or get an aftermarket, a properly done exhaust, removal of all extraneous items, i.e. emissions, rats nest, do one of the ignition mods (DLIDFIS, TFIDFIS, etc....) or get an msd, lighter flywheel to free up power, the list goes on...

What year and model are you getting?
The 84-85 gsl-se has the larger 13b w/ fuel injection
The rest have the 12a carbed.
Also, I think it's the 83 and up that have the big bearings? Cant remember... it might be 84 and up.

So you have to ask yourself, are you just going to be playing around? If so, you might want to get another car. If you are dedicated to the fb, then by all means go for it.
And Search Search Search!!! Read as much as you can and educate yourself...

The Fb will make a great drift car. AE86 coil covers will work in the rear. https://www.rx7club.com/1st-generation-specific-1979-1985-18/front-rear-coilovers-possible-975939/ the biggest thing that i have seen is that i need less rear end roll to drift better. The stock lsd works pretty good. Cant wait to see some fb drifting.
