Hey guys
i hope im posting in the right place , (my bad if not sorry)
Im in Australia By the way
any way i need some help with my 1982 rx7 .
i have been googling and searching for a few weeks now and have not found any real answers.
so i thought i should ask here.
a few things
1. now my stock 12a rx7 HAS power windows AIR CON ,but NO sunroof.
but i have read that only the gsl-se came out with power windows air con and a sunroof.
so im confused if i have a gsl-se or just A gsl or neither. hmmmm.
2.GEARBOX .
now my box needs a rebuild (Rear bearings and synchros or so im told, it makes quite a bad sound when DE-celerating ).
but i got quoted $1400.
so what i want to know what other series boxes will fit into my 1982 s2 rx7.
so if i bought say a fc gearbox or any other series box will it fit and/or how much work would it be to fit a different one?
would a 13b or 13bt box fit straight in?? hmmmm.
I have a few more questions, but ill ask them at a later date,
cause the gearbox is my only concern at the moment

Beautiful car, and welcome!
12a with A/C can be a GS or GSL, power windows would make it a GSL unless someone just added them in (I'm planning on this in my 84 GS so it could just be the previous owner). GSL-SE was only made in 84-85, so it's not that. Easiest way to tell whether you have a GS or a GSL would be to tell us if you have disc brakes in the rear.
GEARBOX
You can swap in any first gen manual transmission to my knowledge, 79-85 and they should bolt right on.
A 13b trans from an FC would need a lightweight 12a flywheel with a 12a clutch setup to bolt correctly from your 12a to an FC transmission. I believe that an S4 N/A flywheel and clutch would work as well though, with your 12a counterweight, that you could bolt a complete S4 setup to the 12a. 13bt I believe is the same as what I just said, but you need to make a custom transmission mount and driveshaft as well.

Wow thanks man. that was fast.
Well the windows and that look stock and the fuse-box has power window fuse in, so yeah.
Its got disc brakes in the rear and front but i think they're aftermarket.
same with the big red springs and shocks it has and mandrel exhaust system
Its good to hear some tech talk . i'm pretty new to the car mechanical world. but ima pick it up sooner or later. so thanks for that.
So you think is worth rebuilding or getting a different box??
