what rearend are you going to use? I have rebuilt the axle with 4 link and wattlink to let i move properly. The suspension i have on the rear axle is the same as Rx7 FC turbo II, same as I use in the front, Tein Flex with EDFC. |
How come is missed this thread???????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!???????

What widebody kit is that? I like how it does not modify the front bumper. Simple and effective all at the same time.
Nice work. |

Nice work. The front fender on the left side is not like the 3 other ones at all, so i have spent a lot of time on it to make it look like the other ones. Used foam and built it like I want it to be. Can post a picture of it later today. I am going to make me models of this kit, so I can create new ones if i destroying one while driving. I am going to make it all i Carbon fibre, the fenders, front, rear and the hood is beeing made in carbon fibre. |
One of the nicest widebodies I have seen for the FB. The 20B in there will be sweet
|
Looking good!
|
Can't say I've ever seen that widebody for sale, unless this is the factory kit used on the #7 and #77 cars that Mazda campaigned.. I like the lines on it a bit better than mine.
Keeps us posted on the progress, love to see the finished car. |
sick body! gotta get one of those.
|
I have never seen it 4 sale anywhere either. but i am a mechanic on a org GrpB rally rx7, so i got the kit from there, i will make molds of the kit so i can make several if i need to..
Makes it more easy for me.. I love the shapes of this kit. Sure i can post more pictures during the process The only problem is that this kit demands that you get the wheels more out from the car, about 7-10 cm in front and rear. Or else it will look stupid with the fenders way outside the wheels |
I had the same problem with my wideboy kit. Bit it's the widest one I've seen. Even with the 15X7 Epsilons in the front and 15X9 in the rear, the wheels sat in too much. I found a set of SSRs in Japan, 15X9/15X10. With the TII front brake upgrade it moved the wheels out more. Still waiting to buy the Moser axles from ReSpeed so I can mount the rears.
The following link is to my widebody build. https://www.rx7club.com/build-threads-293/unvieling-12a-bp-widebody-462184/ |

How did you mount the sway bar to the frame rails?

Was it a good idea to weld it? I'm doing something similar and the ability to remove it without cutting anything would be nice.
|
the brackets with the treads for the swaybar is welded to the frame, I welded a 4 mm steel bracket here, and then treaded this one, now i can install and remove the swaybar using the same bolt and fittings that it's fitted with on the FC
|
That's a good idea! I will add some studs or threaded holes to mine.

Are you using the swaybar from the fc onto the FB suspension? |
how much wider is the FC subframe?

Approx 6-7 cm or something like that, i know a guy here in norway that runs this subframe on an FB without widebody, i works if you dont have to big wheels. |
Oh man this is gonna be fun to watch being built up. I love the lines of the wide body kit and usually i dont like widebodies. The rear just looks amazing. Much props, cant wait to see it coming together.
|
hehe, i think it looks a little like a porche in the rear end..
I'm looking forward to be able to drive the car me to..Think it will be a fun car to drive. |

Nope. Just figuring out a 20B motor mount setup.
I'm going to put the engine further back in the car so I get more weight on the rear of the car. |
I tried that before but didn't like the interferance with the oil filter, slave cylinder, starter and driver's right foot (gas pedal), shortened driveshaft, shifter position etc. Leaving it all in the stock location is far easier, and if you break something, it's easy to fix.
They say the 20B weighs like 80 pounds more than an S5 T2 engine. Well, if you move the battery to the back, that reduces the front end weight by 40 pounds and shifts it rearward. So in reality, the front end only gains 40 pounds, and so does the back end. I like that idea more than shifting the entire engine and tranny rearward. :) |

Ah, the work is already done. In that case find a good position for the oil filter and have fun.

Hope I get time to paint the bodykit this weekend so i can start making moldings for the kit so i can make new one i carbon fibre |
Nice project!
The tech questions have been asked, so I'll ask something else ;) How's the car mounted to the "spit" to turn it upside-down? I'd need something like that, but I'm afraid of damaging the car... |

If you take a look you'll see that this mounts are in the frame of the car, so it carrying it self with no problem.. |
It's a rotisserie for a car like a rotisserie engine. :) It's far easier to spin it around than to constantly jack it up, let it down, jack it up, let it down.

maked it more easy to build up the frame in the front to fit on the subframe |
Looks great man! Do you have any more pictures of how you modified the firewall to fit the 20b back farther? Can't wait to see it all together!

most likely will I get time to paint the car today
|
Looks really good. I remember those rally RX-7's very well. I was only a little boy back then, and the official team was running belgian plates. Seeing that car of yours coming along nicely kind of brings back the days where I'd say I wanted a RX-7 when I was older and everyone just saying "yeah sure".
Well, what color are you going to paint it? Somehow the original rally paint-scheme seems the way to go ;) |
