Looking good Roar, seems like there will be a lot of 1.gens next summer! Now, how about starting a thread on the norwegian Mazda owners forum?

PS. Hva slags pris hadde du sett for deg for et panser i carbon?

neh, its enough with a tread here isnt it?

pris på karbon panser vet jeg ikke enda, skal tenke litt mere på priser når jeg har fått støpt til meg selv å ser hvordan resultatet blir..

hehe, good to hear... when i have maked the body kit for my self i will get a price for what it will cost for other people to buy it from me...

weldings is not a big problem...

Norwegian_rotary 11-20-07 02:04 PM

tomorow i will start do some test with the carbon fiber, going to try to make a rear fender or two..

Kim 11-20-07 02:27 PM

Have you come up with a price yet?
I could even pick it up in Oslo, might be a waste of time but hey I allways want's to meet fellow Rotards and touch their 20B's :D

I cant come with a price for the people before I have maked the whole kit for my own car.. This is beacause i need to find out how much time it takes, and I also have to make the last molds of the "wing" and the front and rear spoiler..

I only have molds of the hood and the fenders yet, the rest I havent cared about since its not the most important to do on the car.

Will probably take a month or two before I can come with a price..
Depends on what material you want also, and the thickness of the fenders, how many layers of fibers you want..

But its not to hide that the carbon fiber kit will be expencive, the fiber glass by the way will be a lot cheaper... The carbon fiber by it self and the epoxy for it, is very expencive..And also the process for making it in carbon fiber is a lot more complicated than the fiber glass.

this is how the fender looks like now, the test is running and the picture shows the mold with the carbon fiber under vakuum...will stay like this for tomorrow and then I will find out if the carbon fiber is coming of the mold or if it is stuck to it..

Attachment 704166

comming with a new update tomorrow

dj55b 11-21-07 09:39 PM

nice shop setup for all this CF stuff ... hopefully I'll have something similar soon.

here are some pictures of how the test ended..
Some marks on the fender caused by to little job with the fiber before i put it in vakuum, going to do a new test on monday where i want the result to be perfect..

well, here are the pictures of the result, i looks bad beacause i had not cleaned the fender after i took it out from the mold when i took the pictures..the surface on the fender is as near to perfect as you can come for a first timer..

Attachment 704167
Inside of it looks bad beacause of the vakuum-bag maked the marks, but who cares about the inside?

Attachment 704168
the outside looks much better

Attachment 704169
some better pictures maybe?

Frode, the turbo is a turbonetics turbo, what kind of i dont know yet, will be tested with several different turbos in the dyno..

not bought from kai, but from a guy in trøgstad named alf eng..

StricklyOldskool 11-22-07 07:53 PM

so when will these fender flares be on production?
I would be willing to pay the price to get a set made.
Nice looking car mang!!

Naegleria_Fowleri 11-22-07 10:21 PM

Definitely looks like it will be an amazing looking car when its all done. That is without even mentioning the 3 rotor under the hood as well. That car is going to be an amazing car.

No, its welded with tig, but it is my first time doing it...but i am 100% sure its not leaking, that is the most important thing, in the picture i haven't grinded the manifold at all..looks better when i have done that..

Norwegian_rotary 12-01-07 10:11 AM

I have now built together the exhaust manifold, only thing left is to weld it completely, do that tomorrow..

also maked the hood in carbon fibre with custom maked scoop, and test fittet the fender...

Attachment 704172

Attachment 704173

The reason for that the carbon fiber not looks very good is beacause i havent cleaned of the wax that i use so it comes of the mold and not get stucked..

When i have cleaned it, it will look like everyone else carbon fiber part that you can buy anywhere

not a fan of that hood on the first gen but knowing you i'm sure its functional. But that rear wide body is just pure sex in carbon fiber ... you're my new role model

I need some place to get the air out from the engine bay when driving..lots of air going in in the front, the must out somewhere, down under the car and the pressure to the grund will be less, out from the hood and the pressure under the car remains the same..

first i also had to make the scoop beacause the 20b is so high, but now i have ordered dry sump so i can get a flat oil pan on the engine, this so i can get it lower in the car

1POINT3 12-01-07 05:08 PM

If u ever plan to make stock fenders in carbon fiber send me a PM ill be all over that.

I'd be intrested in knowing that too, since I have problems with cracking paint/bondo on my widebody RX-7. If somebody has a good solution, let me know.

I use a glue called sika on the rear fenders, the front fenders i use the original bolts to put them on the car..

You should consider mass production of the sunroof (when you have time). Alot of people, including myself are looking for someone to make them, but so far no one has stepped up to the plate. Awesome project though, I can't wait to see it finished. Keep up the good work.
