The wheel well rust is still being worked on. But it is basically a cut and patch job.

Thanks.

The car is finally getting there. I'm going to stop by and see it today.

What was left to do as of last weekend:
-paint hood, bumpers, cowl
-wet sand and polish hood, bumpers, cowl (after paint)
-install hood, bumpers, cowl, rear glass, etc (I will be helping)
-wheel well rust repair
-install exhaust heat shield (tabs to be welded with rust repair)
-repair and paint rear louvers (need to drill rivets and drop off at welder)
-wheel clear coat (already preped by me)
-side moulding install
-side moulding finish
-windshield moulding install
-pinstriping
-rear interior install (I will be doing, 1-2 hour total)
-install seals, emblems, stickers, etc (I will be doing)

Once the car is done with paint:
-alignment
-new tires
-replace carpet (have in garage)
-driver's seat repair (sometime this year)
-metal sunroof headliner in brown (done with seat)
-rear suspension bushing replacement (bushings sitting in garage)
-paint rear suspension (have paint)

Looks like a long list but it isn't as bad as it sounds.

Chris,

Can you please document the details of the wheel well rust repair. I need to do this as well, but don't have any welding experience.

Get a quality (lincoln or miller) MIG, and an angle grinder. Practice with some angle iron from lowes/home depot. Then grind out the holes till they are 100% free of rust and all shinny metal. MIG in angle iron, then OSPRO.

You need welding experience, but this is kind of a beginer welding job if your rust hasn't extened past the thicker parts.

OP: That car looks great!!! Man I can't wait to save up some cash for new paint on mine

Thanks all.

With the rust, we also used some naval jelly on the entire area once everything was ground and wire brushed. Once the rust is fixed, we will seam seal all seams (factory didn't seam seal any of it causing the rust) and under coat the entire area.

I cleaned and painted my extra set of rear comtrol arms and watts links. I also pressed out the bushings. They are ready to install the new bushings. I just need to chean and paint the rear end and sway bar.

I also started to work on the louvers. The support bars are at the welder getting tig welded. I should have they back next week so I will get the finished next weekend. Pics to come soon.

The door locks need to be installed but were still wet when I left so I couldn't get them in. We repaired the left tail light (it was cracked). We made a good one out of two. The tail lights and center panel are now in for good. The license plate brackets are also painted.

The rear bumper, head light buckets, head light lids, hood hinges, and hood latch were ready for color when I left.

In the next few months, I'm going to need to find a company that can do gold zinc plating. I'm having a really hard time locating a place in Colorado. There is a car show next weekend so I may just ask around there. Every place I've called just does chrome plating.

With the car painted, all the bolts and such under the hood are going to really stand out.

Hood and cowl are done and installed. I also installed the headlights and passenger side lid. The driver's side lids had a small nick in the paint so it needs to be touched up.

I got the car washed and in the sun on friday. I took some pics.

It was a little overcast when I too the pics (smoke from one of our fires) so it's hard to see how glossy the paint is.

I will get some updated pics this week with the hood and cowl on and hopefully the front bumper too. We should also have the black top of the door frames and the side mouldings painted this week. This will allow me to install the door/window seals and mirrors.
