Do yourself a favor and call autozone and order a carburetor rebuild kit (gp sorensen kit is good). pull your carb all apart, clean it for hours and hours in a well ventilated area (unless you're into that dizzy/lightheaded/high feeling). and then replace all the vacuum lines/coolant hoses/rubber fuel line. That would also be a great time to delete all your emissions junk and mod your carb for mech secondaries if you dont need it. All of that should cost less than a $100 and save you headache upon headache. I rebuild my carb two years ago, i just rebuild it again last week. A clean properly working carb is your friend, they aren't scary. They do everything a FI car does but without all those sensors and wires and computers.

So I talked to my rebuilding hommie. He said he has hook up on original Y6 PAINT! he's gonna show me how to build his car lift. In my garage! I'm excited. I found out carb is a NIKKI (MITSUBISHI) 4 barrell Carb. So that's why it shots fire out the back. Anyways. Sorry been busy with college/gf, yada yada anyways. Got the old man comming over soon to show me how to tune a 4 barrel. He's got a 67 ford 352 custom. That can take two bigger versions of this thing. So I called him out for a favor will be ripped apart soon. Check out barn find 79! I posted pics of my restoration shop hommie's custom( built in shop lift) for ease on back restoration project's

I don't trust auto zone. Sorensen is Mexico made. Which is my 4th preference for jap parts. For aftermarket anything. First is European. Then Japanese. Then Canada. Then Mexico. Then U.S. sadly. Then last China. Never buy China after market parts..

Even more things:

1) Every carbureted RX-7 was fitted with the Nikki 4 barrel carb. This does not explain why your car 'shoots flames,' nor does it indicate that someone 'built' the car in the past.
2) The Sorenson rebuild kit is quite good, your unfounded prejudices about part origins aside. But before you go digging around in the carb or have someone 'tune' it, whatever that means, do yourself a favor and read up on the Nikki. Foxed.ca - Mazda RX-7 Manuals has the factory training manuals for the carb. It's an invaluable resource for understanding how these carbs function.
3) Sterling wrote two excellent articles about high RPM power loss and acceleration problems that can be caused by problems with the carb. Read them:

https://www.rx7club.com/1st-gen-arch...oblems-238028/
https://www.rx7club.com/1st-gen-arch...r-loss-238027/

Did you replace the fuel filter and check the flow of the fuel pump yet?

Thanks for your input on my thread Moses X605. I really do appreiciate another persons point of view I will put put my part prejudice aside for moment and give the Sorensen kit a whirl. My "unfounded" prejudice comes from all Honda ordering of aftermarket parts for years. You guys know Mazda way better than I do. So again you are right I haven't tried Sorensen or any aftermarket parts for RX7's, thank you again. Here it go's. Off comes comes the carb..
