KA24de swap has begun

I have been sitting on my Fb for a couple months now and finally got the time to start the swap. Please no comments on ditching the rotary I have plans for a rotary build in another vehicle later. This is goi g to be my daily driver and I see no downside in this swal for this application.

Reasons for he swap:
1. Cost, The 12a has a blown rotor and I got the ka for free. Even with geting the parts I need for the swap it wil be much cheaper than a rebuild.
2. Gas mileage. I drive 30 miles a day and getting 20mpg at best wth the rotary can't compare to the 30+ I will get with the new engine.
3. Power. 50 extra ponies and 70+ more torques, why not?
4. Uniqueness. Its hard these days to find something that a hundred other people have not done already. That being said if you know anyone who has done this one before I would love to talk to them.

I read that thread a few weeks ago. Some good info about the oil pan. I might just end up cutting an inch or so below the flange and making my own pan. I will have to mock up he ka first. I'm pulling it out of the s14 tomorrow so I will have more updates over this weekend.

Pics would be very helpful.

I have made a little progress the last week. Pulled the enging out of the s14. Did a couple test fitments just to get more of a starting point. Looks like it will be easier to cut the subframe where it angles forward and flip the section 180º. The shifter location is spot on. And thee is a inch or so of clearance to the firewall. I also stripped the enging bay in prepration for paint.

I am currently doing the same swap and I'm super interested in the thread. I will keep an eye on this one. I'm also trying to figure out a motor mount situation.

Not much. There was some surface rust where the battery tray was. I ground all of it off and started to prime the engine bay. Won't be able to make a ton of progress untill I finish a integra I'm building.

Mine has the same rust there too. What will you do about mounts? I still haven't figured mine out yet

Not exactly sure yet about the mounts. When I modify the subframe and can get the engine to sit where I want it I will mock some up with cardboard and go from there

KA Swap

I'm actually working on an SR20 swap myself. I couldn't cut away enough of the stock crossmember to keep the engine under the hood. I ended up swapping the stock crossmember for one out of a 240SX. The bolt holes are only slightly off, but it is a damn near perfect fit in our car. A little drilling and you'll be in business a lot faster than if you tried modding the FB's crossmember.

And my turbo got in the way of my steering box, so I switched to the 240's rack and pinion unit. An S13 rack with S14 inner tie rods will connect to the FB's outer tie rods.

As for mounts, do it yourself. Check out my build thread and there is a link to the how to that I used.

Good luck!
