GSL Motor Inspection No Bueno!

It looks like I'm getting took at every turn. I hope the future Mazda folks I meet are more kind to me.

This is what I got back from the general mech on the Silver 85 GSL. Taking the second one in today. Any comments or suggestions on the below at this point?

Labor Service - CRANK NO START***customer bought vehicle today , vehicle may have new spark plugs and oil , it appears as if the starter wants to start vehicle but engine doesn’t turn over.

TECH:The engine was flooded at arrival we removed and cleaned spark plugs we let
vehicle sit over night so that engine could air out any fuel left in chambers, we also
noticed that the spark plug wires were not routed properly and we re-installed the wires after re-installing everything we found that the engine only has 25 psi compression.

Specification is 85 psi minimum. Recommend take the car to a Mazda rotary engine specialist to inspect and possibly rebuild the engine if needed.

Was this a pre-purchase inspection? If not, I never assume a non-running car has a good engine and base my purchase offer price on this fact. This is especially critical for an RX-7. The most important weapon you have as a buyer is your feet. Walk away if things don't line up.

What was the purchase price?

The compression minimum is 85psi on each face, not total. You need to have a proper compression test performed with a rotary compression tester to gather an idea of where the compression really is. I don't think the shop was dishonest, just not very well versed with the rotary engine. That's pretty normal.

We can help you with the basic stuff and by you doing the work yourself, you will learn more and more a out the car, feel confident fixing the car, and have a sense of pride in the car that you wouldn't have otherwise. I suggest buying a Factory Service Manual for your model year and reading through it and getting an idea if how some of the stuff works and be able to identify the car's components. And this forum is full of people that are willing to help you. If you were closer I would just have you bring the car over and I'd help you with it at no charge.
