Got me a FB! old style turbo build

Picked up a pretty cool FB not long ago. The car has bounced around to a few different owners but no ones done much with it. One of the previous owners swapped a 13b s4 turbo 2 motor and haltech into it and another painted it. I am hoping to keep the car for awhile and do it justice. This is the 4th RX7 I've owned and my first 1st gen.

first night i got the car.

s4 turbo 13B swap

chillin down easy

gsl-se parts car

The car is going to be a lot of work to get it cleaned up. needs a tune. needs black interior. needs GSL-SE parts/big wheels/flares and a set of louvers. Let the funs begin.

Thanks, looks good on the WWW which is all that matters to me! lol

running a haltech sprint re, ls coils and FFE trigger now. still need to figure out a better tune or whats going on with the iginition. maybe something with the wiring to the LS coils isnt right. Also i started doing a water-meth install and kind of left it after getting the injector situated in the IC piping but that will all be taken care of over winter hopefully.

stance coilovers. they were sourced from a shop in Chicago. had to wait 6+ months to get them so I am excited to try them out.

Fellow Canuck here.....love your project! Super similar to what I'm working toward on my 85. Ok if I pick your brain?

Stance Coilovers.....did you get them in the 6k/4k standard spring rates? Are they crazy stiff?? Bolt in or needed fab?

Fender flares and rear spoiler.....what brand (Duraflex?)....and how did you find fitment?

Wheel/tire combo....mind sharing brand, sizing, offset, spacers, etc? looks amazing. Did the GSL-SE swap mean you are now running an easier to find stud pattern?

What front tower brace are you running?

Sorry to pepper you....but this is SUPER helpful.

Cheers

hey man, yeah def no problem. I lived in Salmon Arm for a summer a few years back. such a nice area, really miss it sometimes!

the stance coilovers are the 6k/4k springs. Front strut tubes need to be welded but the back bolts in. I don't have enough time on them to really tell you how good the handle or anything but from what I've driven on them so far it's not an issue and is a nicer ride then what I was running before. The strut tower brace is off the parts car gsl-se and i am not sure what brand it is. The wheels are black racing, fronts 15x9 -15 backs 15x10 -25. The flares are just ZG flares off a 280z, they will need work to fit decent but its a place to start from, the wing is duraflex and is on point for sure. I am not super picky that everything has to be mint shape or fit exactly perfect though so take it for what its worth. As long as it gets styled up how i want it i am happy.

should probably get some more pictures of it this weekend. finally got all the gsl-se swap done and i am working on installing some recaro's out of a evo5. hopefully have that all buttoned up over the weekend. the car is really coming together though. Everytime i walk past it in my garage i get hype for whats to come.

Awesome. Shuswap vs. Lethbridge....ya, I'd say so!! If you're ever in the area let me know.

Ok, fair enough. Who did you get them from?

Roger that. I just know some tower braces that fit the FB specifically say they don't fit 13B swaps, but clearly yours does.

awesome. Mind giving me the vendor? are they from Malaysia?

Also...what rubber size do you have on there. Nice amount of stretch.

Perfect. Did you have to cut the fenders, or just trim the flares?

Do it! I'd love more pics. I'd be hyped too....it's brilliant and you already have the swap done!

Thanks buddy, super helpful....

a couple more details if you don't mind?

Where exactly did you get the wheels from? are they some of the malaysia made wheels? Look pretty perfect.

What rubber are you running? size/type...

How far did you have to go with the flares to fit the tires......just rolling? cutting? Have you been able to test out potential rubbing when at lock?

Thanks!!

Hey bud sorry I didn't get back to you on this stuff. The wheels are Malaysian got them off ebay. I am going to try and do a bigger tire in the back but right now i am not getting any rubbing and have been driving it around a fair bit. I cut the fenders out under the flares and welded up the rear arch. Only sometimes i get a rub when backing up that is rubbing on the inside fender but i just took a hammer to the fender lip and haven't noticed it since then so hopefully i am in the clear now. I am pretty happy with how its turned out. I'll post up tire sizes later as i am drawing a plank and don't want to give you mis-information.

1st gen drag Rx7

I’ve finally started back build my 1st gen Rx7. I’ve had this car put away for a while I have a fully built 13b bridgeported built buy Alex Lopez with a T-78 gretty with a turbo 2 tranny. I would love to go with a power glide but its a lot of money and rear end is a 8.8 Ford rearend of a 96 gt mustang narrowed to 49” with full 4 link rearend from chassis engineering with roll cage , also people are tell me to go from carb to fuel injection. Need some tips

back once again like the regamasta'!!

had the car out for a couple random night sessions, changed the color of the wheels from black to gunmetal grey and i guess added kamei front dam but that was last year already just never posted up anything on here. been raisin hell in the new subdivision out by my house, keep that the D.L

alright so slowing always improving this thing. Been doing a few drive ability tweaks to it and robbing parts of the parts car. When i got the car it was stripped down to be a race car and i am slowly getting it back to street car fashion. Got the power windows working again which is huge for me. I think I'll try and tackle the head lights motors next, still no heater or fan or anything in the car but that car be dealt with later.

oh yeah and then I got new wheels!!!!

15x8.5 -25
15x11 -27

Keep'n all the wheels, still love the look with the banana rims. never hurts to change it up every now and again.

not really actually. they do rub a tiny amount sometimes but totally driveable I could raise the car up a bit but I like how it looks so just going to leave it.

fronts are AME mesh and the rears are SSR reverse mesh.

glad you guys like it. i feel like it's made the car a lot more flashy. going back to BR bananas most definitely one day.

What happened to the driver's side targa piece?
Nvm I see you removed both sides and left the center.

just changing it up a bit. the wind actually started ripping it off one day when it was sitting in my driveway so i took it off to reinstall it better but just never got back around to it and kinda been digging it without the louvers and band lately.
