This evening I pulled the engine using a Harbor Freight engine hoist I picked up. I don't normally go for cheap tools, but I hope pulling engines isn't something I'm going to do a whole lot of, and this got the job done.
It's good to know you have some great people behind you on this. Tommy Lo, Mike Stocklin, etc. This car is beautiful and you're not cutting corners. :P
New rotor. I'm going to keep the housing as it made good compression on one face despite the 3 score marks on it. I'll compression check it after it's assembled and if it makes good compression still, I'll go with it. If not, then we'll pull it apart and I'll save up for a new set of housings. Would really rather not go that route.
of all the places to have a score mark that is one of the least worst, the leading plug hole is larger because there is not much pressure difference between the two chambers.
Not MFR housings, but they are similar. j9fd3s got the engine back together using these housings last week. Guess what? It makes better compression than before!
I'm amazed you didn't post that "loaded up for SevenStock" photo that I just saw on Facebook. WOW. What a great shot!
That is a great show, isn't it? Even a cameo appearance of j9fd3s and Mr. Peepers in it. I'm in there, but hidden by B66, changing wheels. So I didn't have that shot personally...my buddy took it and I just found out about it.
