This evening, I laser cut the pieces of a protoype airbox I intend to assemble and use in conjunction with the fiberglass airbox. Scaling was off (pieces were about 20% smaller than they should have been), so I need to go back and figure out why. The Illustrator file is correct, so it must be with the laser cutting software. Annoying.
It's awfully tempting to build a custom dash similar to yours for my own car... But I'm building a street car
Well, according to the DMV, my car is a street car. It is registered and has plates.
So, I put together a video of the first part of airbox installation. In the first part, I relocate my radiator overflow reservoir (now that the battery is out of the way).
Finished part two of my airbox install video last night. Got the airbox designed in Illustrator, cut on a laser cutter, and put together. Test fit it last night. Next step is to get more parts to connect it to the primary airbox.
Picked up a bunch of plumbing parts from Orchard Supply Hardward and finished mocking up all the connections to the 2 air boxes this evening. I had to hog out the hole by the headlight to get the snorkel to go in. I need to go back and clean it up, paint the bare metal, and put it together for real. Part 3 coming in the next couple days.
Finished the secondary air box. Pulled everything out and am taking it into my paint guy to get painted.
Also, my 15" SSR MkIII 15x8 and 15x9s came in last week. I got them wrapped in Hoosier A7s but had to wait for new lugs to come in as SSR decided to switch lug styles from the old-school flat faced, long shank lug to the standard tapered tuner lug. Well, the lugs came in today, so I put them on.
I got my airbox back from paint and installed it. I'll post a link to the final part of my airbox install vid in the next couple of days. Until then, here's a pic:

Got 1 question: do you get enough air thru that smaller pipe?
Time will tell. The Mugen setup for Hondas has even smaller snorkels and it's a proven power adder for those cars. So the trick is striking a balance between air flow and heat soak. All the air flow in the world isn't going to do you much good if it's heat-soaked.
Yes, at 18:00 in the vid, you can see me cutting down a generic air filter and installing it. I also use screens on the velocity stacks as extra insurance.
