I knew I would get some hate for the swap but I know how to work on Chevy motors not rotarys but I love how the FBs looks thanks for the positive feedback

I love the 4.3s, and it makes the car. The guys who claim to love the rotary aren't fighting to buy the one I removed, so how real is that?
So now you can see I'm being friendly, I gotta say, typing things like what I just quoted, that's what a teenage girl would type. If you are a teenage girl, then that's cool. Otherwise, that makes it difficult to stay interested.
On these forums, whether RX-7 or Camaro or whatever else, you'll find you get more interaction when you mess the car up than you will for decent improvements to the car. So treat your build thread like it's only for you.

i just bought a 1984 rx7 shell myself for 500$, if i was to find a chevy s10 truck then would the 4.3 fit in the engine bay or would i need to modify some parts of the engine (oil pan?) also did you custom make your mounts and how did you wire it. im planning on making my rx7 efi just because i like efi better.

I can't answer all of that, i never tried a 4.3 in the 83 RX7 I built, but based on the L36 swap I did, and my having been the first to swap 4.3s into both an 82-92 Camaro and 79-93 Mustang, I think you should plan on everything having to be custom fabricated, or at least modified by cutting, welding, and drilling.

You seem pretty set on the 4.3, and i cant understand why, it isn't a bad engine, but it isnt the best low budget engine for an FB. If the S10 isn't a 96 or newer, you really should not use it. If it is a 96 or newer, then it will be a 4L60E or a NV3500.
For sportiness, the gearbox you want is the T5 from an '88 Camaro LB9, the only year the WC T5 had a mechanical speedometer, and the LO3 had the 0.63:1 fifth.
The S10 does provide an adaptable rear axle upgrade, see my build thread, but better to not even buy the s10, spend your 500 on a 4.8L LSx V8 and buy the axle separately. Get an 8.8" axle from a Ranger 4x4 4.0L. I could get the 4.8 and the 8.8 both for 500 around here.
This will get you within 1 mpg of a 4.3, with at least half again more power, cleaner emissions, more aftermarket support, more resale value, and more potential for even more power.

the reason im going towards the 4.3 is a couple factors
1.2000 s-10 4x4 engine (answering your question)
2. guy lowered the price to 400$ and it has brand new tires meaning this would be a "free engine and trans" after selling the tires.. just so happens to be alot of truck guys here
3. im in canada and there are absolutely NO t5s around my area, especially because theres a racetrack and everyone already got their v8s and t5s
4. i want this car to run, and i want it to have some power, i dont need it for racing and im trying to do this on a budget. a really thin budget consisting on alot of time and a bit of welding, i dont have the luxury on choosing what i want put in so sadly so the 4.3 is my choice if i want a manual trans. for cheap also
5. its only temporary, and i mean im going to keep the engine in there until i feel a need for speed, then ill turbo it then blow it then get a bigger engine when i got the money but for right now the "free engine" is all i can afford safely and quickly
if you would like to help me find something cheap in my area (anywhere in Nova Scotia Canada) i would appreciate it greatly, but for now i can afford this. my budget is 1000$(for just engine and trans with computer)
i read your thread, you did a great job and im not sure how you came up with so much wizardry with matching parts from like 12 cars to get the job done.
but my only plan is to make it run and to make it reliable for as cheap as can be..
also is there any places i need to worry about for rust?
SORRY FOR WRITING A BIBLE OF A LONG MESSAGE
and i will look around for a 4.8 as you suggested but if i cant find anything within the week im going to get the truck

^^^ dude no offence but you are gonna need more than $1000 to transplant this thing.
$1000 will get the oem RX7 engine up to par and beyond.
Oh and you're name begs the question; this is your first apartment complex you've ever lived in alone? If so I don't think they are gonna be too thrilled with an engine swap in their parking lot.
Look in the storage bins for rust. That's where it happens on these cars.

i pay 275 for rent per month, im taking mechanics, already asked the people in the same building and the landlord, they dont care (its in the back yard)
. and im going to make this move as cheap as possible lol
no offense taken, there are tons of people who say this cant be done cheap but i need to set some goals
1 use engine mounts from truck to weld in car, modify steering rack, modify stock engine mount on the bottom to brace engine
the shifter location can be moved slightly with a couple welds and bars. the wiring will be the hard part but im just taking parts from the truck to put on the car, as haggard as its going to be itll work...eventually

wow, your car is rusty where mine isn't rusty, and I had to re do the rear wheel wells behind the storage bins.
Or given the rust that readily apparent, I bet the storage bins are covering a disaster

Qingdao may not be able to do it for that money, some guys just dont get it, but i could get a stock 4.8 swapped in with a T5 from a V6 Mustang, and build a harness, and get a used pcm and have it tuned, all for under $1000 if i count my labor as free. There would still be a lot of little details, sure.
But building it twice ends up costing more than just driving the s10 while building the car right the first time. It also causes s lot of guys to give up before getting it anywhere near right. The RX7 i did took most of a year, but it turned out better than planned.
To fit the 4.8 under a stock hood will require an LS1 intake manifold and fuel rails, which go for $200, or you can just clearance the hood for the 4.8 intake.
Didnt realize you werent in the USA, and that has more disadvantages than advantages, but if you want fast for cheap and dont have to worry about emissions, then just do a Vortec 350. I would back it with a Nissan FS5W71C, but it takes some fabrication. No welding, however.
The stock rear axle in the car is strong enough for a 4.3, but geared all wrong, unless you get the T56 from a 94-97 Z28. But thats more than your budget.
I'm on my sixth s10, this one now has a 305, and they are cheap and easy to get to corner at 1g, I suggest you try that while building your car right. The 4,3 is no slouch, it just wants a nore aggressive axe ratio. The TBI version with auto wants a 3.42 rear, the Vortec with automatic wants a 3.73, the Vortec with manual wants a 3.42, and the tbi with manual wants 3.08s

if you would like to move our conversation over to the tread i made here: https://www.rx7club.com/other-engine...t-car-1105337/
please do by any means, and i also posted a video of the car without the seats , carpet and all that except i kept the dash in place.
also i found out about this great thing called facebook and realized i can search for trucks on there also for cheap, i found a 4.2 from a 98 ford f150 that im going to look up but if i find anything else ill post it on my forum page. im in Nova Scotia canada, and the nearest junkyard is about 2.5 hours away...
also there are only 2 rust holes and theyre about 3 inches in diameter and 1 inch in diameter for each one under the drivers carpet. ill get someone to weld that from the college or hook 3 batteries up together and do it myself
