actually that's a box of extra stuff. Only hoses left to go on are the radiator hoses. I'm going to get another can of spray paint. After looking closer at radiator in the sunlight there's some spots that aren't covered as well as I'd like it. On top of that I cut my index finger pretty bad right on top where it bends and it kept popping open on me so I had to stop progress for a couple days to let it heal. Cut right down to the bone, about a dime size flap in a bad place. Ugh!! I'm going to try and get back on it Tuesday evening.

This isn't a bid deal, but I noticed the rad is missing the fan shroud bracket in the middle. They come off really each.

yep it's gone but it really didn't do that much. I was going to make one and decided against it since it's been gone since I got it.

I caught it on the upper hose radiator inlet. I was using emery to clean the inlet and caught it real good on the lip around the top of the rad. It cut a perfect C shape deep right on the joint where it bends. Wouldn't stop bleeding so I backed off for a while.

Cuts,burns,gouges..welcome to the wonderful world of automotive repair. Something like that
gets a cleanout,neosporin,bandaid and wrapped in electrical tape & keep working. Working flat
rate,no time for anything more than that,unless stitches are needed-sometimes even if they are... customer vehicle not going to put itself back together. You have "luxury" of being able to take a
break for it to heal up some. Next time i see you,take a close look at my hands. Lots of scars,burns,witness marks...could play connect the dots,like a roadmap. Started wearing gloves about 20 yrs ago,really cut down on # of injuries. Lots of brands out there now,Mechanixwear one of them. Girlie gives them to me as stocking stuffers for xmas,picks some up when she sees them on sale somewhere. I wear them out pretty quickly,consider them as a consumable tool to work more safely. Also allow you to keep a wound like yours clean and prevent splitting open. Use nitrile gloves for protection from
chemicals: brakleen,carb cleaner,parts washer solvent,oil,atf,gear oil,solvent for carb washer... this
stuff gets absorbed thru skin and long term exposure is shown to damage liver,kidneys,brain function. Just wear gloves,they'll save the day &you won't have"mechanics hands".

I'm not a gloves kinda guy. 36 years in a machine shop and I've got plenty of stitches and scares. This one just got me in the wrong place, right on top of the index joint. Couldn't bend it without opening it and especially on my right hand. It's all good. So damn hot anyway out there. Hell I didn't even feel it when it happened. Was a "squirter" if you know what I mean. I'll go at it again soon.

I wasn't either,you get used to it. Exam gloves great for painting. Cleaning your hands lot quicker too. Am on blood thinners..can't afford a leak...

I started getting a box of the heavy duty nitrile black gloves from HF and wear those when I work on
vehicles. Cuts down on injuries and keeps me from soaking up fun stuff like brake fluid and brake clean.

I was going to suggest that, but I thought people would just laugh!

The important thing with super glue is to do the seam of the cut but not get any inside the "flap". You can also smear a drop over it after it's sealed.

Have done this more than once. Try the superglue or leave work,go to emergency room,wait,wait some more.....superglue wins.

Used superglue many times. Works like a charm. I didn't have any at the time or else I would've used it. You have to be judicious using it only around the broken skin seam. It burns like hell but gets the job done. I'm very old school guys. I didn't mind holding off "production " because the heat and humidity have been high here. I can't stand dripping sweat from my nose and ear lobes when I'm working on things. As for gloves? Just not my way of doing things since I've been in a design/build atmosphere for 37 years in tool&die and special machine tool building. Gloves are dangerous in a machine shop and a big time NO No along with rings and jewelry. What happened to me was a kenard because I didn't realize the stamping of the top of the radiator wasn't deburred leaving a razor edge under the top inlet. No biggie. I deburred it and it won't happen again. I'm close to getting this thing done. Then on to the steering box, idler arm next. Then I'm thinking it's time to delete that air pump. Vacuum hoses and injectors after that. I'm enjoying the self service but I still like driving a whole bunch more!! Thanks guys!!

Radiator in. Screwed and ready for me to get the hoses connected. I literally only get to work on it here and there being so busy at work. Going on vacation next week but will be gone the whole week till the 2nd. Hopefully will get hoses hooked up and start the flush. More later.

Back from vacation. Good to be home. Got back on the 7 today. Have tstat housing w tstat installed, top hose installed, sensors on rad installed and hooked up, fan and shroud installed, bottom hoses next then on to putting the air pump breather and intake air filter box back on. Then the battery. Hopefully tonight!

Well I got it done that night and took it to fireworks just 5 miles away. Ran great. Kept my eye on the temp gauge to be sure my work didn't leak. Watched the fireworks.

On the way home we got caught in thick traffic on a bridge over the Cape Fear River. I was watching my temp gauge and glanced at my oil pressure... ZERO. Five mile to home and my first thought was ...shut it off!!! Nope stuck on this bridge and have to nurse her across. After the shock receded, I thought.. the car runs great, sounds great... maybe it's just a oil sending sensor. Drove her home gingerly and parked it. I didn't know what or where to look and it was late so I waited till today. Yep!!! Wire came off sending unit. All is good!! Just gotta flush it next and clear it with distilled water a couple times, charge her with fresh 50/50...
