I also thought of doing something similar but I do not have this kind of talent or equipment. I hope this works out for u cause it would make things a lot easier. And if it does work, I'm sure there will be people pm'ing u in the future.

That looks nice! Is it single stage or 2 stage paint? Looks soooo smooth.

Mean! I was debating a similar-ish colour for mine. But I've got something else in my head lately haha. Can't wait to see more

couple of questions that I am trying to dial in before getting into swapping parts..

13brew engine going into an fb.

parts I have to put engine into fbhavent listed all)
12a cover
13b gslse oil pan and pickup
s5 CAS
crossmember
rx8 front gasket
OMP block off plate

?s

changing the front cover for the mount to work, can I still use the 13brew water pump & pulley setup? or do I need to find a different setup like a 2nd gen water pump and pulleys?

I am trying to eliminate the mass that is the fd water pump but it isnt a game ender if I cant.

is there a nice single belt setup.. Ive seen one on bonzai racings setup that was like 1inch wide but its not on their site.. they sell a nice dual setup... I could also make some at work, but reality is by the time you design them in cad, toolpath the lathe, setup the lathe, pay for material.. even then they arent coated/anodized.. its easier to buy a kit...

BRAKES:
I purchased a set of t2 calipers... I have read that the fc and fd calipers are much the same though the fd ones are lighter? anyway I plan on making an adapter bracket etc, my question is what rotors to use? fc or fd? and adapt to fit...?? (yes I know there is a bunch of work - but I also work as a machinist and could do a lot of stuff at work.. brackets will be easy once measurements are dialed in between the cnc mills and water jet etc).. I also know I will need bigger wheels as I have 14s stock and 15s min will work with fc calipers... (if you get the right rims) which is fine as I am planning on 16s or 17s anyways if I can fit them....

I hope to use t3 weld on coilover setup for fronts and simple shocks and springs in the rear.. this will be a street car that gets driven occasionally...

there is soooo much I still need to figure out haha.. reading reading reading and my mind is so confused... some say do this, others say it cant be done.. then there is this guy https://www.rx7club.com/build-thread...-build-974831/ which makes me say what cant be done.. holy cow...

there are so many more questions in my head right now... I cant think straight..

Finally got the courage to pop the front cover off...

Prepped and painted the wp... Also drilled the additional hole that is in the original casting but not thru.. That way the 12a cover is only short 1 bolt hole...

not a whole lot to update...

started putting the front cover back on... hoping I did it right... soon find out..

waiting on a wp gasket to mount that back on...

I hope to have it all back to a long block this weekend... maybe... I want to have the trans etc all on to mount into the car by 2017...

trying to work out my path for prioritizing the jobs... ie I need carpet to start putting interior back together, but I dont need to work on interior till engine is ready to go in... or do I... I also purchased some FC/FD calipers... 4pots... and Im trying to find a good answer to adapting them onto an fb... many opinions, many routes...

also trying to decide which route to go suspension wise... considering T3 weld on coilover setup.. just need to figure out spring rate and shock inserts... rears just need to decide on shocks and possibly springs... it will be a weekend car for city driving.. occasional strip use maybe but doubtful

trying to decide between 4lug 2nd Gen rotors or go fd rotors and redrill for 4 lug for now... I dont see myself upgrading the lug pattern... but if the rear end blows then I will and I will be stuck with 4x114.3 rims.. As a machinist I can figure the machining side of things out once I have the right direction... (only been out of school a few years so still learning designing engineering side of things...)

so I have sooo many things to lay out and figure out budget wise...

I also have buddies back in Australia on the search for rear seats as they are common over there an d a lot of guys take them out... yeah I know its small back there but Ive had 5 grown guys in an 81 back in Oz and well I drove so I was comfy hahah I have 4 kids, so I need to be able to take more than 1 kid on occasions when we hang out or cruise...

so if anyone has GOOD straight forward info on brake upgrades (AND NO IM NOT INTERESTED IN DOING THE FC SUBFRAME) ie: which rotors, tips/tricks... trust me I have about 20 links to all sorts of threads where people have done stuff but nothing listed out straight forward... yes I know there will be modding needed.. NO problems... probably will pull the front suspension out soon and take to work to get offsets, spacers etc all mapped out... just need to figure what parts to buy... fc/fd rotors or aftermarket brands.. I guess I can go 13in rotors and make a larger adapter but then the rims become an issue.. I am willing to go up to 17in rims.. (Im Aussie.. we like bigger rims) but may try to keep 16in rims..

Ive even considered metal work on the rear to flare it out without using flare... more discussion will be had with a buddy who wide-bodied a focus in his townhouse garage... (after reading thru a thread on an rx2 coupe that went this route... https://www.rx7club.com/old-school-o...1001503/page2/

so thats about it for now... seems every time I decide I want to be in my shop working on my own stuff a customer wants a repair job done.. brakes, exhaust, wheel bearings etc etc... need the extra project dough but then the project doesnt get done...

heres a small video of our flowjet in action...

and a small 3 pc part I made from ss stock.. then welded together.. the threaded part was made from solid bar.. nothing special but more to show if I have my designs I have no issues making stuff... although not my own 4 rotor like that other guy.. sheesh... ha ha just getting the right design/dimensions helps...

Well had my main helper hanging in the shop with me while the other 3 sat inside playing games..

Took 3mins last night and chipped out the passenger area,

so today I pushed my girl outside and let it freeze for 5 hrs then pulled her in and went to work.. About 45mins later voila..

First time seeing her outside since the bay was painted.. Tahiti Green sure looks blue...

Also took the throttle body to work and gave her a hot soapy sonic bath...

Gotten a little lazy.. figuring out the budget etc... We sold our Franchise business 8ish years ago and still owed a bunch on the overall building/Land/equipment setup cost... so Jan next year we should be debt free from it.. that being said the decision to address this years build budget was undertaken.. well by undertaken I mean the Boss aka wife told me I get half of original request... for now.. once we pay of the debt I can circle back for the more "added stuff" that I wanted like maybe a cage, fancy stereo, sport seats, Granny's rear end, etc...

that being said she also came into the office the other night and asked me what I was doing... I have spent most nights for about a month looking, tracking, comparing setups, parts, options, wants, needs etc... but I have gotten a little frazzled...

She said you are meant to enjoy this... you dont look like you are enjoying it..

I said I am but my brain is fried from trying to decide the route to take and do it wisely with the smaller budget... trust me the budget isnt bad.. Id asked for $10k (not including the $3500 I spent on motor/trans etc)... so we looked over everything, she saw my pages and pages of writing... and said "Why are you still looking? Seems you have your options laid out.. spend the money and buy the stuff you want....!" Ok boss..

hahah

the issue was deciding the route on suspension, I went the t3 weld on coilovers, camber plates and bearing plates for the fronts... Tokico adjustable front inserts, in the rear Ive purchased AGX mustang shocks and will be piecing together a coil over kit (thanks to info in this thread from members like Kentetsu) using parts from this site.... Suspension Coil Over Kits

I also bought new rear rotors and hawk pads all around..
Front T2 rotors (which I will redrill to 4x114.3 at work) to go with the t2 4pots I picked up.

I will do a lot of the work at my work due to well.. lathes, mills, welders, flowjet etc as previously mentioned... maybe... or I will make the custom brake brackets and some other things and assemble at home so my kids can help out...

I would also like to mention that Gabriel over at Techno Toy Tuning was extremely helpful. I had a tonne of questions and a lot to do with the parts I wasnt purchasing thru them but putting together myself, yet he was still helpful in sizes needed etc to basically mimic their setup....

A+++++ for service....

so a few things I have to decide...

working thru the next purchase which will be rims.. Im aussie so they will go bigger than your 13inch choices... it is a gslse so 14s came on it.. but with the t2 calipers etc I need a minimum of 15... I was thinking 17 but I believe I will push it to 16 to allow a little meatier rubber whilst still getting the large rim look...

I like open rims... see my old Forester picture.

made a new gear ****... winged it on design

vs one my dad made me 20yrs ago

85 GSL-SE - 13b turbo build for this winter-unnamed.jpg

so the guys at work started asking questions....

Can you make me one with more girth?
Does it take batteries....??

haha

Started working in my T2 front brake upgrade during lunch break today..

Turned down the rotors so i had just the hub left, and the new rotor clears it internally...

been tinkering away..

purchased a rear seat from canada.. after costing 3 times as much for shipping then was originally quoted I come to find out that the seat isnt even an fb seat.. its an fc rear seat.. so not wanting to go thru another outrages wait and serach I decided to make it fit (seller said it was in his gslse when he got it)

so we cut some tubing from a dodgey go-kart a buddy built, used a shipping bracket and some caliper slides from a chev or ford... and voila.. folding factory style rear seats... they clip in like factory and everything
