'84 GSL-SE Track Toy

Hey all. Bought this car about a month ago, and I plan to turn it into a track toy that I can use to progress through HPDE events, and perhaps once I'm done with that enter it in NASA Time Trials. Plans are to gut the interior, get a full roll cage, seats and harnesses, some sort of track-worthy shock/spring/roll bar combo, and to replace any crucial parts that need it. I'll also be removing power steering and doing whatever I can to get the play out of the wheel, and the A/C was already gone when I bought the car. Nothing terribly complicated. If I have the car for a while and decide to keep it, I think I would like to get it bridge ported, along with the appropriate exhaust and intake modifications (carburetor ).

I have never done much modification to any car before, especially by myself, so a lot of this will be trial, error, and experimentation for me. Really looking forward to it!

Enough talking, onto the pictures. Here are some randoms from before I started doing anything.

The paint on the driver's side headlight cover is bad, figured some random stickers I had laying around couldn't hurt.

I've already replaced the air filter.

I think this sufficiently explains the clunk I was hearing from the rear suspension.

Looks like someone couldn't figure out how to jack a car up properly. I'm told this doesn't look too bad, but second opinions are welcome.

So far, I've only pulled most of the interior panels and carpet out of the car. I've found some rust, but nothing terribly severe.

Got this a couple of weeks ago, not sure when I'll be able to get it on though.

Good luck man!! I have done a lot of research about HPDE and TT events. I am racing in a couple of weeks in SoCal in HPDE 3.

I have raced several road race events, so hopefully if not this event, maybe the next event I will get signed off to run TT. I have built my car to run TTE.

BTW, here is a link to my build for TTE. https://www.rx7club.com/build-threads-293/project-cheap-autocrosser-being-reborn-another-racer-986830/
