Funny thing was I had plans to use carbon fiber. Unfortunately my test run on dissolving the pool noodle fell short of expectation. Luckily, I did not invest in the supplies before hand . So I’m out about five bucks for a pool noodle and some left over 1/2 pvc

had to refinish the mesh, which was in the long term to me expected because it was painted with spray enamel.
now it is done in Cerakote Stormtrooper White. The barrel is polished and coated in a Cerakote clear. I swear, I have put so much damned time into these wheels. But I’m exceptionally pleased with the outcome
Got the coolant lines to the turbo in. Still need to clamp things down in some spots.
I also have the air filter on order.
and my wheels paint got chipped. Was rattle can white. So I’m redoing those in a ceramic epoxy.

I'll be curious to hear your opinion on that Turbosmart Kompact BOV. I have the same one on my car and I've run into compressor surge with it above 8psi or so plumbed in a very similar way. It's a noisy little guy too, even with with the recirc. hooked up, but I bet you'll enjoy it. If it is too noisy for your taste, removing the trumpet and leaving that port open quiets it down a heck of a lot, or you could also go full recirculation.
Envious of your air intake post as well. My intercooler piping blocks that area or else I would have copied you. I like the naca duct placement, although I'd be scared of driving in the wet. Guessing this will be a nice weather car anyway.
Your '80 is amazing. I'm at the point where I think you'll have me beat on max HP.
Yep, its unlikely to see horrific weather. As of sucking up water... It's a calculated risk. the NACA duct seems to be about 12" or so off the ground. Combine that with about 2' of 4' hose and the enclosed cone filter and the duct is protected by the overhang of the bumper. I know its a bit of an eye brow raising feature. I'm more concerned about catching a sparrow up in the intake.
I do need to ask, As I don't see reference to it on your build. What turbo blanket are you using? I'm torn between PTP and DEI and the cost spread between them. I already started with the DEI products for header wrap... What are your thoughts so far?
I think we'll be close on power , especially given you're 13B. I enjoy the fact that we have somewhat similar and yet also quite different builds; also the fact that we actually have a chance of seeing each others setups one of these days.
For the larger debris concerns on that naca duct, it might be worthwhile to install some mesh on the front of it. Would keep the leaves and sparrows out pretty well I'd imagine . Just an idea anyhow.
As for the turbo blanket, so far I've just been using some cheapy $25 eBay ones. I'm glad about it too because with the number of times I've pulled everything apart I would have definitely destroyed even a nice one; so far I'm on my second eBay unit. The issue with turbo blankets is that they are to an extent a consumable, particularly if you keep pulling things apart all the time like me (it's jostling and bending them after heat cycles that causes damage). Regarding PTP vs DEI, I don't think you could go wrong with either. DEI is probably the top brand out there for heat control products and I too have their exhaust wrap and love it. Only issue I see is that spending over 200 bucks on a "consumable" (let alone over $300) doesn't make sense in my mind for our application, which is why I intended to get a PTP Lava blanket once I get all the kinks ironed out. I'd vote PTP unless you really want to want to spend the big bucks on a DEI, which IMO isn't needed on a fun low-mid power street car anyway. I see testaments of 5+ years on either, which to me seems perfectly acceptable. Just my two cents.
Air duct. 4” tube. K&N Orion enclosed air filter. No huffing hot engine air for me.

I am not a fabricator and there are people who have worked miracles on their FBs beyond my meager skill set. My hope is to inspire that extra push while people work on their 7s. We used to be a group of rattle cans and sketchy choices. What I lacked in skill I made up for in patience. My overall inspiration comes from my local classic car people. Lots are modest builds with detail and love embedded into their build. When I started this almost five years ago I felt if classic Japanese cars were going to be taken seriously. We needed to take the preservation seriously as well.

Had my wheels mounted at Anderson Motorsports & Performance out of Spokane. A good 100 miles away from my home. Why, you may ask? Because I want the balancing done right. I wanted someone who appreciates an enthusiast's car. Not just throwing wheels on a Camry. Turns out balancing was a issue and it took some skill to get these 40 year old rims in order.
Anyways... seems the exterior is just about done. Window trim and some other tiny loose ends to tie up.
First. OMP is gone. Wasn’t the original plan. But here we are.
second. More heat management. I’m really pleased with the PTP fitment for the turbo blanket.
third. I got a i7 Toughbook with SSD, touchscreen, cellular option, gps for my Haltech. Im more of a mac person but bootcamp really did not work well .
With the plumbing of the turbo oil pressure regulator and feed lines marks the finishing of the lubrication system. Heat management is mostly done. the charge pipe is closer to the downpipe than I expected. With modern heat management I'm hoping I can limit heat soak. Speaking of the charge pipe, i need it welded to make it complete. I dont think im going to polish it. I need a battery and spark plugs. a small profile oil filler cap and a coolant reservoir. Biggest issue is the exhaust fabrication. I was wanting to run a GESI catalytic converter. Seems there is a two year back order. yikes. perhaps some other day. Hopefully I can get this done in May. perhaps June, There are some car shows I was hoping to hit that might be a just out of reach. Come to think of it, I need to figure out the BOV recirculation. Im also not sure if I will get the AC working this year.
Also today.. My wife was going to start to work on seat upholstery. but she was unable to, so maybe later. the seats and door cards need redone. If I include some speakers. that just about rounds it up. Although there are som more Haltech goodies i would like to get down the road.
missing on this side. Spark plugs and a battery. and a few vacuum lines... Two MAC valves. one for the turbo. the other for the Aux Ports. Turbosmart OMP. heat shield for intake manifold birds eye before oil feed lines installed

Next Saturday the ‘80 leaves for exhaust fabrication. 3” downpipe, GESI metal substrate catalytic (Kooks Green Cats) Racing Beat 3” Universal Presilencer and the Racing Beat 3” Power Pulse PR Extreme muffler.
I haven’t buffed out the rear quarter so it’s a bit dull in the paint. Then there is the right tail light. I thought it got cracked while protected against a concrete wall. It’s just a reflection!
