The CW will be out for photos in the spring. I have the 25 year old original tires still on it and am going to be doing some other deferred maintinece on it over the winter.
I had considered doing a 99 front end and all that but I may just leave it completely alone and stock besides refreshing some things and getting a new AST and fluids/tires/plugs/ fix leaky oil pan etc.

The CYM has been taking all my attention/spare time and disposable income at the moment. I'm hoping to have it done in the next couple weeks. The CYM has also started to get a significant oil pan leak lol.

It's been fun to have been part of this build. In my humble opinion, the build process is nearly 80% of the fun.

Yes, that oil pan leak needs addressed, ASAP! Get on the horn and call up Len. His pans are the bomb!

I agree 100%.

Mine has a nice leak too. Luckily I have the Bacon pan that will go on the new engine.

The more I see the CYM color on your car, the more I fall in love with it.
Mazda really made the perfect selection of colors with the VR/CW/CYM/BB/MB initial combo. I love all of them.

A friend is trying to export his car to interested buyers in the USA. Can you send me a PM on how you did it? I know you posted in here but I can't find the post

Hey Mike, any update on the Tanabe exhaust? I'm looking for a quieter one and the Tanabe is one I was considering. I don't know what it is but I have this aversion to the Racing Beat.
I've tried the TGS tuning dolphin tale which sounds quiet in the video(to me at least).
The St. May exhaust, which Rich pointed out is called the Shotgun exhaust for a reason
And now i have the PFS exhaust which isn't any quieter than the other two. Which is strange because my buddy has the same exhaust as me with a mp and his car is quite a bit quieter and i'm running a resonated mp so I'm confused.

Sorry for the winded question...in summary, how's your exhaust man?

-Michael

I like the Tanabe exhaust, no plans to change it. I also have the Racing beat on my white FD with a main cat and there is still a bit of a drone with the racing beat at certain RPM's. I prefer the Tanabe and mine had no resonated midpipe and it sounds good and not too loud for a rotary.
You can hear clips of it on my YouTube page.

Scared the housing.

Detonated

Jason made a mount for my shot glass of a catch can (6oz). I will post some picks later this week.
The ACT Heavy Duty we took out looks almost new.
Replaced a couple brake lines. Car is pretty much ready for Test and tune this coming Sunday. Will see what kind of MPH I can get to see what kinda power it’s making.
A long overdue update. I am quoting myself here for a reason. This will help explain some things.
If you think your clutch is slipping and you go to replace the clutch and it looks new.... YOUR CLUTCH WASNT SLIPPING.

THE MOTOR WAS DETONATING.

Yeah so it blew up on high boost. It was detonating and there was no pinging. It was just a loss,of power but the rpms kept rising. To me it felt like a slipping clutch. To someone who tunes these cars maybe they would have realized before I blew it up. The old motor ended up having 2mm seals in it and not the 3mm seals. Prob wouldn’t have mattered.

So fast forward.

I had Jim at JPR Imports build me a new motor. This one is ported with RX Parts Apex seals. I also bought an Oil Pan from Len Bacon. That pan alone adds like 500hp. 🤫

Meanwhile I picked up an EFR 8384 Turbo kit. I would mention the vendor but they were complete **** so I don’t want to help them sell a damn thing. Took me 6 months to get my kit that was missing a bunch of things that added up to hundreds of dollars. The customer service was trash. It’s not even about the money but I way overpaid these guys for what I got. PM me if you want to avoid the same place in Tennessee. Anyway, moving on...

Meanwhile I sent the transmission up to HP Motors in Morristown NJ to be rebuilt. Mike is the owner and usually builds Mopars but does plenty of other cars. He has built many of these transmissions for local shops. I sent him the parts and he had the trans turned out in less than a week from getting everything I sent him.
It didn’t really need rebuilt but I didn’t want to leave anything to chance. Everything else on the car has been redone. I don’t want to pull the trans later.

I got lucky and sourced a Mazdaspeed shifter from Japan thanks to an offshore Mate named “Mate”.

I have lots of pics to upload. Need to organize them. Motor will likely go back in the car in a couple weeks. Just so happens JP3 Motorsports have 2 other FD’s that need tuned. It’s quite possible we fly a tuner in like Steve Kan or Nelson to tune these up. We may also stay with local tuner Wilmerac Mazda. I’m letting the boys decide as I’m always the one blowing motors.

And now for something completely different.
As many of you know I bought a couple Chaste White cars over the summer. A 94 PEP with 29k miles and a 94 Base with 21k miles (now has 22.5k)

Matthew the Tech Sweeney bought the 29k mile car to start his epic build to add to his MKIV Supra and his R35 GTR builds.
Matt has also helped me with my current build getting me an EFR8374 turbo (thanks Matt) He has also offered to let me borrow parts from his FD build when parts for mine were behind schedule. Has got me info from Haltech and overall been a helping hand everytime he knew I hit a wall on something or provided insight from things he has learned on other builds like using E85 etc.
Goes to show that you still find good people in this hobby and Matt is good people and isn’t just out for himself. He didn’t owe me anything but has been a friend. Thanks Matt, you are part of this CYM build now. Cause CYM > CW? Lol

oh and the long promised pics of the CW base I never delivered on,
had some cleaning up of the engine bay to do. It’s almost there, cleaning up nicely with some elbow grease and degreaser. Steamer didn’t touch it, took degreaser and nylon brush and rags.

Mike. Long time no msg :P

That's a rough deal with your motor. Detonation without any audible feedback. That would make me paranoid!
Jim's work looks very nice. Its going to be a hell of a setup when it's back together.

Want me to swing by and kick someone's *** in TN?

Out of the car into the garage

Up on the stand

Started assembly

Slow progress assembling the accessories on the new engine. Seems there is always some hardware here or there I am missing so I’ve been placing a lot of Mazda Motorsports orders recently.

For the wife.

Banished

S2K at home

Cheese for the S2K
Picked up another car. S2000 is for my wife. I had to move the CW off-site to accommodate the S2K. It’s a 2004 which makes it an AP2. Has 52k miles.

FourtyOunce modified this for me and he and 1cleancym did the leg work of getting the AN fittings welded on and getting it powdercoated. All while they are both buying houses, building houses and renting houses.
They always make time for me. Which I am eternally grateful.

1cleancym is likely coming down this Friday and we will put the motor back in my car!!.
We finally have some Dyno results of his tuned EFR 7670 IWG from this past weekend. See his build thread for more info. I believe he will be posting results soon if he hasnt already.

FourtyOunce and I will be getting tuned June 23rd. We both have EFR8374 EWG turbos. His motor is a stock port and mine is a Street Port now. They will be tuned by the same tuner on the same day on the same Dyno so that should make for some cool comparisons where the power is made and if a ported motor makes or loses power anywhere in comparison to a healthy stock ported motor.
We both are running the same fuel system and pump gas/water meth.

Yikes, does your garage door truly clear the roof of the white FD in that pic when in the UP position? How much does that 2 car lift cost, and how about the garage door conversion? You've got me thinking BAD thoughts now....
