I was referring to using a single fuel pump but rewiring it with heavier gauge wire while eliminating the fuel pump resistor. It's a common thing to do.

got some stuff done today. Washed down the engine bay, sanded down old flaky paint, zink-primed it and went for simple satin black for a pure clean look. Offc. i ran outta zink-primer and paint, so only got left side done...

So, basically, this means, if you are stopped by the vehicle and transportation office-personel(yes, they have vehicle checkpoints along alot of roads), and you have blue silicone hoses instead of the OEMs, they can take your plates and demand that you fit original hoses before you have to take the car to their office/station to have a full checkup and get your plates back again if they approve the car...!
God i hate this country, carwise.....!
Won't they checkpoints pull your plates for the GPsports "midpipe and back"?
Just curious thanks.

In theory yes. But, 90% of the time, they issue a notification that you have to meet up at their offices and show the car within a certain date, to either get the car approved, or get abit more time to set the car back to original condition.
this timeframe is usually about 2-4 weeks, so plenty of time to refit the original exhaust. The reward is worth the risk

Hey Gordon! Thank you! The FD is a true therapist, even in a disassembled state...! I cant wait to get her on the road once again!

ye, i mean, if you are going to do a rebuild, you might as well do it the proper way and restore as much as you can from the ground, in stead of purchasing your way to easyness or cover up the problems in shiney paint

PS. The hedgehogs are awesome, they keep snailpopulation and other small creeps at bay!

pps. Ah, so you are Gordon Monsen? Monsen is an old norwegian surname yes You should come to Norway once to find your family over here If you need a place to stay, shout!

got some stuff done today.

drivers side being sanded down and cleaned..

Hmmm, found rust underneath the battery tray, seems like its caused by a semi-loose batterytray, vibrating/grinding against the chassie, wearing off the old paint and primer..... Salty norwegian coastal weather have not helped on the situation.....

What is this item, found it under the igniter on the drivers side:

Found a second "rats nest" under the breaking-unit..! Also found the remnants of my previously posted semi-eaten window-washer hose and end covers on the steering rack...

Engine bay done, satin black:

looks soo much better against the titanium grey paintjob:

brakeunit picked apart and refurbished:

ABS unit picked down for washing, sanding off and painting:

all pipes on the torpedo-wall grinded down, primed and painted:

lol...

Awesome thread, man.

Such thorough work. I hope to be able to get to the point where I am ready to just tear down my FD and just clean it up bit by bit like you are. Still so much left to do to it though!

BTW, super cute pic of your dog. LOL

And I love GT-Four's.....what year?

Hi man!
Thanks for uplifting words. I know its not alot compared to some of the superclean and insane builds out there, and not with a huge budget where i can send everything off to have it done for me or buy new stuff, but on the other hand, its nice theraputical work for me, and i put alot of love into the car, wich gives it a soul and a personality

Yeah, Dennis(the dogs name) is quite a funny little rascal

Its a white 92 GT4, 4wd, original stance and aftermarket rims. AST ballbearing turbo, walboro fuelpump, wolfcatz fuelrail, AEM engine management, HKS 272 cams and HKS camwheels, 3" dp, midpipe, original exhaust further back... think its a moderate 400ish whp. Rocks hard on any surface, and the car looks just pure sex being all dirty and doing 4wd slides on gravelroads and snow! It looks..... like it`s home, if you know what i mean

more tedious work today. So little done it seems, but so much time goes into getting into those tight spots to sand down, prime and paint... Boring work..!

Are you afraid of the paint on the turbo-related components retaining additional heat?

Hey!

Nah, not really. Its a heat-resistant paint that also contains Mica, a good insulator against heat. Howard was experimenting with this mica-stuff a while ago, I thought I`d give it a try.
Non the less, I will fabricate a custom heatshield around the twins(with room for twin EGT probes) to take the worst of the oven-baking from the turboes. Got access to good materials through a few friends working at Framo, a corporation that fabricates pumps and other units used in the oil-industry.

Hehe, thank you!
Well, yeah, i cant complain. I have my own house with a double garage, 20 minutes from Bergen city centre(second largest city in norway), and i live on an island with 156 houses on it. My closest neighbour is a field with sheeps grazing, and the view to the fjords are very nice indeed

Its nice to be able to pick the car down to metal and small single parts. It is therapeutical, AND most important, it "connects" you to your 7, you get full insight and control into the state of your car, from stem to stern!

What an effing nice day it was today! Sun is out, cold beer in the fridge, so we had to do some car-duty!!!

Had to snip a few photos of my house and garage and the view:

Today, it was front subframe-time! Yes, i know i mounted the front swaybar wrong here, but corrected it before i fitted the subframe:

sliding it in:

and done:

Sandblasted the rear calipers:

Started to remove and clean my old shock/springsetup:

4 HR springs, sold to a friend of mine, got a brand new set of eibachs, type Howard Coleman-recommended coming in:

My dog was getting pretty fed up with me by this time, so he gave me a " i dont give a fnuck"- attitude when i tied him to the Cosmo

painted rear calipers:

washed down plastic covers:

washed, primed and painted all heatshields under the car. I know they are alu, but its just to get a uniform look to the car. The paint is heat-withstanding paint as well.

all calipers done:

car rust-covered to the moon and back!

all in all, a good day!

Had a friend come over today to help me do some heavy lifting and fitting today.
Lovely celica GT4 he has, with some nice bolt-ons and tuneups, but pretty stock looking:

I started to clean the gearbox:

while he started to wrap the downpipe:

Then, we bolted up the Dragon Performance diffbrace:

Threw in the main shaft and PPF, together with the Dragon Performance transmission brace(no more 3gear shiftfails they say)

refitted the intercooler and front fiberglass thingy:

and threw in the spaghetti(main wiring loom)
