WOW! Probably the only one in the US with one of those.
Maybe, I think I saw one other one way way back in pictures. It's super hard to find pictures or information or anything about it. This one is numbered #125. So I guess there at least that many in the world? Once I get it pretty I'd like to drive it back to GReddy in SoCal and ask some more questions about the history.
Got some Mazdaspeed magazines in. I never got one of the full catalogues before, and it's pretty cool to see other period cars. Cars a little dirty from the hatch install. My b.
I finished wiring up the hatch, which really consists of just the defroster and grounds. I did it without cutting anything. They recommend to cut the body side connector and use a standard connector, but I just built a tiny jump harness. When I hit the defroster switch, nothing explodes and the light stays on, so I guess it's working well. Hard to tell in sunny California. Probably will never need it, but I'd rather do it just right.
The stock car has a diversity antenna in the rear glass, IIRC. I wonder if the radio will work less good than before. Stock radio is pulled and replaced with a flippy storage bin, so I can ship it out for radio repair. It only plays on 2 channels. Not sure if it's the root cause, but we'll see when I get it to a pro. I'd like to keep it stock, if I can.
So, then I was able to put all the custom plastic trim panels back on the hatch. The middle top is just like stock, as far as I can tell, but the sides are custom. Just shows how far they went to make these things.
I do miss the rear cargo cover, which is not long enough to cover all the free space now. The hatch doesn't have provisions for it to tie onto anyways. I'll put it on the long-term list to get creative about that. Rear visibility is LOL.
Works been to busy for life. So no progress on paint, but it's a high priority to get it painted well. I got a shop in mind, just need to drive there for consult/price/scheduling. They're gonna have to do it on the car, so I hope that's not a big deal. Gotta figure out if the weatherstripping needs to come out. Will let the professionals tell me what's best. Except if I have to take the hatch off, I'll cry about that. It was not as easy as I thought, even now that I know what to do.
Well,
I'm not a fond of this hatch, but I prefer it with the wing.
By the way, where did you find this wing? Are they cheap?
Is it a genuine SP1 wing ?

The wing came with the hatch. It is not the SP wing, though it's kinda similar.
You can probably get the SP wing from @carbon man if you try hard enough. Or, if you check around in Oz.
I'm not totally sure who made the wing that comes with the GReddy hatch. Maybe wings west?
If you look up "rx-7 supra wing" you might find similar. Very early 90's style.
So, I couldn't stand the stickers. Picked up the Efini Rx-7 trunk strap. But, been out and about a little bit. Even made it to a norcal meet. Was having too much fun yapping to take pictures.
Need to get a rim job and some rubbers before the season is out. Think I found a place to take care of it.
Where did you get the trunk strap? Are they hard to find?
It was an original Efini option. I've seen 2-3 good ones for sale in the past few years. I found this one on YAJ. I can't find much about it on google search, but there have to be a few of them around.
