My Ongoing RE Amemiya Project

Hello Folks,

Often check out this site but rarely post as either checking out the great cars on this site or using it to get information from experiences of fellow owners

Anyway its now a year since I got my rx7 so thought I would post some information/photos on the car. I am now photo expert so apologies for the **** photos but hopefully for those interested it gives an idea what Ive done.

I bought it direct from Japan through a mate last September and it arrived in the UK November 2010.

Here is a photo of it in Japan.

At the auction.

When it arrived I had bought it without the facer 9 front bumper and GT2 rear spoiler and the exterior and interior needed changing.

I ran with a chargespeed front bumper to begin with and pretty much as soon as the car arrived the car was resprayed black (as it started life in Japan) and all the yellow interior parts were ditched and a autoexe steering wheel fitted.

By early December 2010 it looked like this

That was pretty much it in 2010 apart from a visit to RE Worx, a great rx7 specialist in Portsmouth to get the car serviced, map checked and a dyno run. On the twins it made just under 350bhp.

2011 started and the next part of the project started, a RE A replica bumper

Briefly the car also ran Mazdapseed seats in January 2011 and a RE Amemiya rear spoiler.

However the Mazdapeed seats were soon replaced with some genuine Bride Gias Seats

Also managed to get hold of a red carpet from a rx7 being broken to match the red brides and the interior plastics were changed once again for some later spec interior trim parts.

With the new bumper fitted.

Around this time I also got hold of a RE Amemiya carbon GT3 rear wing.

Next up was some RE Amemiya sleek HID front lights.

Also changed the RE Amemiya GT3 rear wing for a RE Amemiya GT2 carbon rear wing as wanted something larger to go with the kit.

Around this time also got hold of some autoexe bracing to match the under bracing that came on the car from Japan.

My love of all things RE Amemiya continued as I got hold of a RE Amemiya Dolphin TA exhaust and a RE Amemiya carbon bonnet that was damaged so sprayed it up.

So in September this year I got a single turbo kit fitted to the car, a T04R with a Knightsport V Mount kit. Still need more work doing on this side.

And the RE Amemiya exhaust was fitted.

Also changed out the rear seats for some rear bins.

And fitted a few other RE Amemiya parts (oil cap, gearknob, drivers knee pad)

Last month fitted a Chargespeed carboon rear bootlid so the car is running without the GT2 rear wing at the moment, kind of like this look for time being.

And thats where it stands at the moment. Some jobs coming up, got a genuine RE Amemiya bumper to go on the car to match the rest of the genuine kit.

Also sold the bride seats and have something equally JDM to replace them with, which arrive next week with a bit of luck.

More plans for next year, these RX7s always need something!

Thanks for looking.

nice build. all the amemiya parts together look legit. also, you have the autoexe front and rear strut set i was looking at buying. its on sale here for a little under 400 american.. it looks good. theres a very good chance i'll get it now that i know what it looks like installed...

how does it drive with it? insanely stiff i can imagine...

I noticed after fitting them it seemed to tighten the car up. It's also got the auto exe bracing underneath with the re amemiya drivetrain branch and front rigid bar so is pretty stiff. Would also like a roll bar which I think I probably look to do now as couldn't with the bride seats.

Thank you for making this thread; love the transition!!

Don't take this the wrong way either; but a lot of times cars from Europe have the ugly body kits, and a strange fascination with large crome wheels on FD's....your's is exactly the opposite of those things.

GREAT choices; very clean!

Well Saturday has been a busy day for me.

Met up with Martin from Speedline Imports today and collected my new seats as bought them while they were still in Japan.

Spirit Type R

Having bought the seats I sourced some of the Red Bolster protectors, the seats are good condition but hopefully this will help protect them a bit.

And quick shots of them fitted.

Sorry for the crap photos, happy with them and the red suits the interior and exterior colour combination of the car.

Thanks for the comments on the recaros.

I round the year off with the last couple of updates, some custom alloy shrounding for the v mount kit to help it, some replacement tein super drift coilovers and finally some re amemiya pilllow track rod ends.

Dead chuffed with the new coilovers as the car now feels a lot more stable compared to the old KEI Office set up whilst replacing the track rod ends has sharpend up the feel from the car, although for best results I need to get an allignment session

To be done early 2012 as have the parts waiting.

1. Fit re amemiya spoiler/rear lights (getting sprayed at the moment).
2. Battery relocated to boot in alloy box.
3. Fit the uprated fuel kit I have (bosch 1680cc injectors in secondary rail).
4. Remap based on the above.
5. Also got some genuine re amemiya vented sleek headlights so may do a switch to these.

Also looking for a re amemiya steering wheel, maybe re amemiya gauges to replace the feed gauges and some tidying of the engine bay.

Very nice build, quick question, where did you get the Replica RE front bumper? And how did the fitment and looks compare to the genuine bumper you got after?

I order to get the replica front bumper I had to buy the entire replica kit. It was from a seller in the uk who specializes in aftermarket Japanese car body kits.

The replica bumper is still on the car at the moment as not had a chance to fit the genuine re a bumper yet so that the car is 100% genuine re a again.

Fitment wise the replica was not bad as can be seen but as with most replica parts fitment is never as good as the original parts.

Morning and a Happy New Year to all.

Started the car up today as had been left parked up outside since the 14th of last month as what with festive period and other family/friend commitments hadnt had time to use it. As it was a nice day thought I take it out for a small drive to warm her up, etc.

At the same time got some photos of the RE Amemiya light cover/lip spoiler I had bought recently. I wont be selling the 99' spec rear lights Ive decided as will mix and match between them both for now.

At the moment I am still running without the RE Amemiya GT2 Carbon Wing I have as quite like the look without it. However its living in the back lounge in our house, which cannot continue forever! Whilst I know not to everyones taste here it is fitted and it supplements my RE Amemiya addiction.

Also not sure if I have to lower it a bit at the back since the new coilovers have gone on However now its a bit higher at the back maybe gives the opportunity to fit a RE A diffuser.

Still got to find out what is blowing on the car and at the same time going to get it undersealed and the battery relocated to the boot in a alloy box. Hope to get this done later in January together with getting a RE Amemiya speedo gauge fitted as the Feed set is provisionally sold if I get the RE A set in.

A few little updates on my car so far this year. I regularly check this site out and has been a player in me getting some of the work below done.

I changed out the engine I have in my car for a half bridge ported engine. At the same time I also upgraded the fueling system so now has the larger 1680's secondary injectors with the same primary injectors. Also fitted a uprated Bosch 044 fuel pump, swirl pot system, coil pack relocation kit. Some photos below.

For a few weeks the car looked liked this as I also replaced the replica front RE Amemiya bumper with a genuine secondhand version to match the rest of the kit.

Here are some photos and videos.

Video:

http://s305.photobucket.com/albums/n...t=IMG_0057.mp4

My addiction to RE Amemiya parts continued as I got hold of a RE Amemiya AST and for me the holy grail of RE Amemiya parts (a RE Amemiya steering wheel)

Most of this work was all done by a local RX7 Specialist, Super7 Autos who did a good job and kept faith in it all. At the time of the engine going in Super 7 also replaced all the ignition and wiring loom as on a nearly 20 year old car mine was looking tired.

And then last week got the bumper sprayed, AST and steering wheel fitted.

And a small video of the half bridge ported engine

http://s305.photobucket.com/albums/n...t=rexvideo.mp4

And lastly some carbon door sills.

Upcoming plans are to get a twin plate clutch as the existing clutch wont take the power. Also looking at a full roll cage and some other tidy up jobs.

Thanks for looking.
