Any suggestions on increasing the cranking speeds?

 

I couldn't tell if you were using a battery charger on the battery in the video or not, if you're not I would try a larger one with the boost/start mode.

 

I did not, but I will now.

 

So before I order my trigger kit, Elliot if you're viewing and since you're going to be my tuner in the future, is it better to run the hall or mag trigger kit?

I need to know this before placing my order.

yeah that was the slowest compression test i've ever seen. and it was still hitting 60psi on each face.

 

That's a promising note I guess.

I'll get a better compression check this weekend.

Well on to a smaller update.

Because I have been focusing on law school and decided to write my long paper this semester I haven't been able to get as much time to work on the fd as I would like.

However, the past few weeks I have been accumulating some parts...

So far I have:
ECU/Harness
Fuel Rails
Injectors
License plate





Yet to receive:
FFE Trigger Kit
Coilovers


Depending on what is going on with my compression (now its slowly cranking over) will sort of determine my build. I plan on taking one of my cars to the track this year. It is either going to be my 20B FD or my G35.

Anyways, once everything gets figured out I will start to order more parts. I haven't found any mounts yet that allow me to not modify the sub-frame/rack location. I might end up making some as I really do not want to pay $650 for mounts....I really do not understand why people are charging so much money. To me it is crazy, but maybe I'm just cheap.


Once I start getting more time I will post up more pics and videos of the build progress.

Can someone guide me to the harness that I can use to simplify the chassis harness and basically have a DIY chassis harness? I am trying to do my tuck, but would like to not have to chop up the charge and chassis harness in case someone else needs one.

Also, WHAT IS THE PROPER SIZE AN FITTING FOR THE 20B FRONT COVER?
IT IS NOT 18MM TO 10AN LIKE THE FD FRONT COVER.

These may work if you move the rack fittings fluid lines or convert to manual???

 

I actually talked to Rich at xcessive. He was saying he didn't think they would work for the 20b unless I would use the steering rack kit they have. I suppose for $320 I could try it and find out ahha.

 

36-1 mag trigger works just fine !

 

I ordered one, but I think it's the wrong kit. I'll post a pic shortly to hear your opinions.

I've never ordered a trigger kit before, but I was supposed to get the HALL 36-1 20b trigger kit (including CAS cover and yeah).

Is this the wrong kit or am I just going crazy?

So it's been a while since my last post. I've been busy with school and selling and shipping parts.

For those of you that do not know, I am less than a year away from graduating law school. Next year I will be taking the BAR and then hopefully I will get a decent job in a law firm or just continue to work with the public defenders office.

With two kids, a dog, and a house to take care of, it is a little tough to get things done in the garage. Especially since I haven't had time to organize and clean things up! Lol

Well come spring time I will have a lot of things to get in order to get my car ready to start. Though I have not had many updates, I have been accumulating parts.

I have the following parts in preparation for my build:
20b 36-1 ffe trigger kit
Adaptronic 1280 ecu/harness
6x1000cc injectors
Ffe 20b fuel rail kit
Apexi n1 dampened 12k/12k coilovers
Xtreme rotaries EWP adaptor (from my rew)
Work vsxx 3pc rims (going off to get refinished)

I've got a few things I need to order before the weekend hits, but once I get things I need I will update with pics.


Like I said before, not very much going on right now as school has been kicking my ***. Have my long paper due this semester. For those of you that are not familiar with a long paper...its a "research paper" that's 8500 words (not including footnotes). For me, this long paper is all revolving around a case SCOTUS (Supreme Court of the United States) decided: Heien v North Carolina. The title I am going with for now for this paper is "A Police Officer's Ignorance: is it really a good faith mistake?"


Where to start? Hmmm good question. I initially thought it would be a good idea to add this long paper to this semester as 13 credits was making me feel I had too much time on my hands. Now as it's another 15 credit semester I feel as if I have too little of time on my hands.


Back to the build.

Updates will come, but man I can't wait until winter is over with!

ah, to be college age again.

 

Lol yeah I'm going on 28. My undergrad was much less work than law school lol.

 

We are in the same boat right now man, although your classes are much harder than mine. Just to get my car to start before June there's so much that has to get done it's scary. Although my motor swap is the easy part, it's the body work that's gonna kill me. Just keep pushing along, you'll get there! Maybe this year we will get to cruise together towards the end of the year...maybe...

 

we are all cruising this spring brothers.

 

Yessir...hopefully with my fd.

On some other news, I just ordered my coils and wideband. Also got the bulk of the fuel/vacuum lines as well.

Should be interesting once it warms up and I find time to work on the fd.

Need a clutch set-up yet and radiator and turbo and intercooler and....yes this list could go on forever lol

Hello ALL!!!!

It has been a while since I had an update.

Well mainly because law school has kept me very busy.

So now that I am on spring break I will hopefully get more things done.


Now on to the update.

I picked up 20b mounts from a fellow member/friend a week or so ago to see if they will be adequate to work with my 20b in the fd.

I received the rest of the fragola fittings I needed to finish up my oil cooling system:


So now I have everything I need...except my hose cutter lol



Also had a chance to finish ordering all of my nylon braid hose:
-4an for vacuum
-8an for fuel
-10an for oil




The first thing I have done was prep my oil coolers:


When those were prepped I went out to the garage and started to dismantle more of the 20b.


Removed the engine harness:





Nicely taped up the holes and test fitted the mounts


I then started removing the water pump housing




and installed my EWP adapter






I am continuing to give updates while you may or may not be reading this so bare with me lol

I really enjoy the quality of this adapter. Now I do not believe the pricing is extremely high, but compared to other distributors I guess I shouldn't complain ($160 for oil cooler brackets ~_~ man I had how people only want money like woah!!!).

So yeah. I now have a bunch of parts I will no longer be using/needing, which I believe are all in the market place now.







After doing the removal and getting the engine down to the keg I started working on the side mount alternator bracket:

---Ill get more pics and details once its done...just a teaser now

I started doing a test fit for the mounts and sub frame.




Removed the Oil pan as it was unable to work with the sub frame:


I will alter this pan to fit once I get final measurements




Fits nicely without the pan

So after I finished getting the engine prepped for the install or fit for in the bay, I decided to drop the engine in the fd.

You wont necessarily be able to tell from the pics, but I did use the stock fd mounts (rubberized crap not "mount mounts.").

I found that I do need to get 3" tall mounts made so it does not sit as low as it is is currently sitting. However, because I want to finish my oil cooler system before I remove the motor again I will keep it how it is right now. This way I can finish it.
