My FD build

The car is a 93 r1 with black interior (obviously not in the car at the moment). the rear deck lid had the holes filled and the rear and front bumpers have had all the holes filled so no badges. The only other differences in the body is a set of molded pettit flares and and evo r headlights. the wheels are a set of HRE 898r's 9.0 255/35/18 front and 11.5 rears 335/30/18 michelin ps2's with diamond black lip and matte black spokes. the body is diamond black as well.
the motor that is going in is a ported 20b with balanced and lightened internals with new rotor housings and a t88h. the transmission is a magnum t56 with the kaaz 1.5 way and chromoly axles for the rear. i will try to post pics of the drive train soon.

*the first pic makes it look like a dually

This particualr body shop mainly does corvettes if you notice in pic #3 there is a 56 corvette that is getting and entire restoration i would hate to see that bill!!!!!!!!

thanks for the kind words guys the car is done being painted now. They just have to finish wet sanding it, buffing it, remounting the body panels then I can take it back home and get to work on the rest. I hope to have it back by the end of next week.

Great minds think alike. Molded Pettit flares all the way! Can't wait to see it finished. Has the 20b swap already been done and just removed for painting?

The motor is at rotary performance I made a mistake with the motor and its being fixed there. I have a thread about it in the 20b section with complete details. I hope to get it back soon so I can start putting it all in.

The body work cost me 10k. which I feel was an excellent price considering they stripped everything down to bare metal including the engine bay and most of the interior and it had somewhere around 7 paint jobs stacked on top of each other. The downside to this shop is. they are NOT fast. the car has been in for nearly a year.

I don't care what you say.... if your spending that much on a paint job...there is absolutely NO reason why the car should be there for more than 2 months..PERIOD. I think you should get in there and give them some words or get some type of partial refund. ...even 6 months is just absurd..

p.s. what made you chose that tranny over all the others..and do you mind me asking how much you paid for it? thanks much!

It could have taken less time If themodcity.com would have sent me my wheels that I ordered and paid for but they jsut stole my money and never made the wheels and wouldnt send a refund. so I finally had enough and ordered a set of HRE's from vividracing. vivid racing was fast and had great customer service but they may have been a little higher priced which really was worth it in the long run. once the wheels came in the could finally get some work done by fitting them to the car.

as far as the magnum t56 I paid $2500 and no sales tax. I just bought it from a guy in fort worth when I drove down to take the 20b to Rotary Performance for some repairs (see 20b section). I chose the magnum model because of a 31 spline output shaft and the tripple cone synchros.

I'd love to see how this looks after the body is done. I know I want to bring my FD widebody but don't know what to go with. Always loved the Pettit flares but I think they have to be molded in to look good.

Themodcity.com never refunded me for my wheels. after I contacted the BBB The BBB contacted themodcity.com and they wouldnt answer or return calls, apparently they have many cases with the modcity.com and they do this all the time. DO NOT BUY FROM THEMODCITY.COM

That is an amazing molded flare job. Might just be the dark color but it flows real well. Body shope has real skills.

Makes me want to have my pettit flares molded come paint time...

The body shop that is doing the painting mainly does vintage and newer corvette's they will certainly take other work though. The business is family owned and operated the Grandfather is 73 and owns the place and is the one that molded the flares. he has two sons that work there and so do their children.
