Vertex extender doesnt work so hot. I mean it does what I need it to do but, its a bit heavy for the stalk. When putting the left blinker on (RHD, remember), the auto return makes it drop down and put the right blinker on. I have it as far inward on the stalk as possible.

I suppose ill deal with it for now, maybe a new stalk would help.

That’s a shame. Wonder if you can keep the bracket but make a carbon fibre arm for it?

i assume it is aluminum, so not sure how much weight that would save......

That would prob help but I feel like most of the weight is in the clamping area, its pretty thick. Will play with it more.

Here's a pic from this morning's drive.

Also, I noticed on the drive today that my odometer was going on and off a few times Never ending. Suppose its time for a newer cluster.

Took the car to my buddy to get aligned Saturday. I had him set it to 1/16" toe in for the front and 0 rear. Castor is around 6 degrees and camber around 3 degrees all around. First time I've had a straight steering wheel and no pulling since I got it last year lol.

He didn't want to tig the o2 bung on with the downpipe in the car. He's all about perfection. So i'm gonna take it off and bring it to him this weekend. Got new studs and nuts on the way just in case, i'll probably change them anyway.

I scored a cluster on YAJ. Just a normal black one... That has a RE speedo Had a bit of a bidding war going on and the fees are ridiculous but I think I still made out ok on it as it is the full cluster and the surround. Not 100% sure ill use it as i'm thinking about fixing my odometer issue and then converting it to MPH instead.

New wheels should be on this weekend

Tease. Should have looked at the tire specs a little better. A bit skinnier than id like. 9" tread width vs 10"+ tread width in others of the same size. But itll do for now.

Beautiful wheels!
Wheel size/offset and tire sizes? 265/35 all 'round?

How did you fix the rocker panel??

18x10 +25. 265/35

I used a stud welder and a combination of other body pullers, plus a decent amount of bondo. I'll hopefully have it replaced it when I get it painted, just wanted to get rid of the huge eye sore.

HKS V-Mount and Twins.

Following your thread with interest. Looking at purchasing a HKS vmount kit soon and I wanted to know if you think the kit is oversized for the stock twins? (I expect to go single next year)

I’m currently using a koyo nflow, Greddy SMIC (worthless in 90+ weather) with twins and hks rs intakes. (Also a shine auto feed style vented hood)

How is the cars response on the twins with the IC combo? Also any further insight/thoughts on the fans height?

I do not feel it is oversized. I may have lost some response but its hard to say. The car is still very drivable and has good low end (running simplified sequential).

You would have pretty much the same setup as me. I also have the nflo and rs intakes. I think the thicker radiator is what made my install a little more tricky but as you can see its doable. Everything is mounted properly. I just took some extra precaution on the radiator pipes (wrapped with old hose) to avoid vibration noises.

the fan height is always in the back of my mind while driving. Ive only scraped them once, and it was going from pavement to a dirt drive that had a pretty solid drop off. I think it was coming back on that it grazed the lowest part. I dont see it as a big issue unless you are planning to make your tires disappear completely in the wheel wells. So far so good. Im happy with the kit.

I dont know if you want to keep a/c, but the lines in the kit are designed for newer systems in the jdm cars from 94+ or so. My 92 JDM car has a system similar to the MANA I believe, so if you have denso in your car you may be ok.

Thanks for the confirmation. Yes keeping the a/c is also a concern of mine. Can’t tell if you kept yours.

Can you feedback on your tune given the secondary rail, twins and IC? Boost etc.

Ive placed my order via rhd japan on hold until I am comfortable with this direction.

Thanks again.

So for my car, the ac lines provided are the correct dimensions but the fittings are different sizes. I assume I could just swap on the correect fittings and be good to go. I have everything in place but those lines and the drier until I can get that worked out. My a/c wasnt working before hand so it hasnt been a huge priority.

On top of the v mount and hks intakes, I also have a feed downpipe and full exhaust. I believe its 85mm from the turbos back. Between the dp and midpipe is a restrictor. On the power fc im seeing around .89 for boost. My boost gauge in psi shows about 14. This was maxing out my duty cycle with the factory injectors (was seeing 90% and higher on pfc). To be fair I was getting the duty cycle warning before the v mount, but only in cooler weather. With the secondary upgrade I think my duty cycle is in the 70% range now, I havent looked too close. Ive changed nothing with the tune after the injectors and AFR’s seem very safe. Car is running great but I would like to have it looked at just to be sure.

Thanks to tomsn16 I got a denso condenser on the way, and I placed an order with nengun for the 2 a/c lines I need. My early JDM car has a MANA style system so i'm gonna convert those things to denso, which will match up with the HKS provided lines. Custom would have been cheaper but I like OEM and I know what I need in the future for replacements if necessary.

Next couple of projects will be getting some more 94+ textured style interior, need the HVAC panel and also need to replace my broken door inserts. Will take a peek at my differential and see if it is the cusco style that will allow me to change from the 2 way. And finally remove the trans to swap out a noisy throwout bearing, and get rid of a 3rd gear scratch.

Obviously need to do some paint and body work eventually but not highest on my priority list as leaving my car in someone else's hands is hard to do (and will be really expensive).

Instead of using the RE cluster, I decided to change over my OEM speedo to miles since I had to change the capacitor for the odometer to light up anyway. Super easy with Dale Clark's info.

Odometer in miles and also adjusted the speedo so the km/h marks are actually correct for mph now.

Or, you could have done that on the RE cluster, and considered it extra motivation to build a car that will go 300mph!!

Haha. I thought about it but it would be crazy to modify an expensive speedo IMO

A/C has been consuming me for the past month or so. Turns out the US denso system matches up with the a/c parts of my car and not the newer jdm models. The newer line would not bolt on to my compressor.

So, enough is enough. I bought a full set of used lines from a 1996, a used evaporator from the same car, a brand new condenser from Mazda Japan, and a used compressor. Got the lines and evap. Condenser should be in today and compressor this week.
