Update:

Lots of stuff going on, and Not much time to report on it. But I'll give you guys the Low down!! I miss being able to sit down and type up a solid well thought out entry. Seems like all I'm able to do now is throw a bunch of jumbled dialect and photos up in no organized order. I'll try to get back to doing that. It makes reading more enjoyable.

Anyways..

I'll try out a new quicker but more organized layout and then maybe you guys can let me know if it blows or not haha.

Here's a nice look into the SP800 Aftermarket Industries Fuel Surge Tank. Im' pretty jazzed about this bad boy and I can't wait for the Lines and fittings to show up so I can get started on the install!!
The Quality is by far Top notch. Seriously Impressive.

You can tell Julian Austin really spent time on the design. He always talks about "Fluid Engineering" and it's easy to see what he means now that I'm sitting here holding this thing.

One of the most impressive parts is the internals. The mounts that hold the pumps and the rubber that secures it into place....... All I can say is they're not going anywhere.. and I don't think I could ask for a nicer pump hanger. It all goes together with ease... but it's not flexible or floppy or jalopy at all. #PrimoAustralianParts. I'm just amped to be able to take part in such a solid company.

I also really have to be so thankful for being able to be with such an awesome girl. Its been a bit over 4 years and everytime I feel like I dont deserve her. She's Beyond Great and I'm so lucky to have met her. She lets me love the wolf, and there aren't many people who could deal with that. Looking forward to my future with this babe!

I Also Scored Tickets to Formula D Longbeach through my Buddy Dan. He's competing in FD Pro-2 this year and Built a supra that really defines his level of commitment. His first Supra back in the day was really nice.. but this car.. is a true beast. A million tiny things that make it unique. You can follow the build on superstreet online or his Instagram: @RADDANDRIFT

Scored an Aero Sponsorship through Rays Factory for one of his 1750 MM GT wings. This thing is massively Awesome and will definitely Change up the look of the car with the new kit!! Price as of right now is $850.00 As a kit which will include the wing, end plates, chass specific wing stands, And all mounting hardware. You can also purchase the deck alone for a bit cheaper. But check out Rays Factory on Instagram if you'd like more info on it@raysfactory He's also on FB!

Fridays Qualifying was awesome because you got to see all the prep and issues/Resolves etc that teams went through to make sure the cars got on track and were able to rip around. But I was super pumped to drive home friday night and Mock up my wing around 1am haha. Where it "Might" sit.... People say high mount is played out.... I was thinking lowish mount.. but I really don't care much about that. I'm just going to mount it where I think it looks best...or Ray will just send me Stands...and I'm pretty sure it'll look good. He's got a hell of an eye for style... Either way.... what do you guys think?!

Really makes me wish I wouldn't have sold my diffusor. I originally had the shine auto feed rep. Then I sold that and went with a knockoff WRX Voltex Diffusor that looked so sick, but I made a huge mistake in selling it for cash to fund my wheel set up. Now i'm diffusorless...and this wing Beckons for one haha. I'll keep an eye out....but i've got a couple things in the works.
One of the coolest things about FD long Beach is that all the vendors show up. Big names...smaller names.. And you get to actually talk to and see in person parts. I was jazzed to sit in a few of the different seat manufacturers different models. Finally settled on one seat that was the most comfortable to me.
The Sparco Pro 2000 Felt really comfortable out of all the seats I sat in. Including a couple BRIDE buckets. It's something I'd like to invest in before next season.

There really isn't much Comparison for the level of some of these cars. Flat out really defines these cars. It's hard to imagine driving this course without holding back.

I was also lucky enough to be able to hang out with Mad Mike Whidett Literally the entire weekend. He wasn't able to get his car here in time due to the ports being backed up, and the only other choice was flying the car over..which you could imagine isn't cheap. So he wasn't able to make it in time for FD Long Beach. But He'll be Competing this year. It was really cool to be able to hear his input on some of the driving/set up/judging that was going on, and really get an inside scoop into a Formula Drift Drivers mind. Couldn't help but feel a little overwhelmed either. Little did he know All I wanted to tell him was that I've probably watched the equivalence of the Lord of the rings Movies in time studying his cars on youtube. It was awesome. We went out to dinner after and thats where we really got to conversing. Got to show him pictures of my car, discuss alignment specs/set up and really talk Mazda Rotary. I was pretty Pumped.

Formula Drift was Great! Hell of a friday and saturday. But I woke up Sunday and realized my Buddy Alex was racing in Redline Time Attack out at willow Springs. And since my GF was working.. I was like.. Whelp... Might as well end of the weekend with a bang! Headed out to willow to help out and support!
Check out this guy...3rd Place Finish!!! not bad for someone pulling over on the wrong side of the course forcing him to Lock up and flat spot his tires eh?!

Also got to Help out Dan at Garage Life with their car. Their Lap top Died and A water temp sensor was acting up so We jammed back to my house where i had a spare sensor and my lap top and headed back to the track. Replaced the new sensor with one of my Old spares and the symptoms went away. A quick re-tune to double check and Whaalaah.. first place!

So awesome you got to hang with Mad Mike!

Also if you didn't know, you can setup the gopro ( if that is what you were shooting with ) so you can see outside better; if you set it to spot meter instead of center weighted avg. But depends what you want to see, inside or out.

Love the new wing, it will be sick!

Nope I'm neither. They call me C-Devs/Devers/or Cory if ur into all the properness.

Suit looks good, I like the RPF1's on there too, keep pushing man. It'll come together proper soon enough.

I think the low mount for the wing would look boss, btw.

What was the adrenaline rush like during your last run? You touched on it briefly, but i was hoping for something a little more in depth.

^ Hey thanks for the input!

Well honestly.... I've never been so nervous in my life. There were a LOT of people and drivers. Over 65 registered. I remember sitting in the drivers seat before my run watching the cars in front of me do burnouts and wondering how the hell I even ended up here. My heart was literally pounding out of my chest and each beat felt as if someone were bumping me closed fist on my chest. I Shook my head and looked over to the right where my seat was empty. ...My buddy Dan had told me that he talks to his dad who had passed away earlier on in life before each run he makes. It's the only thing I could really focus on. So I Looked at that seat, closed my eyes and asked my pops to come take a ride with me. The car in front of me had completed their run and I was up. My heart was still pounding and I knew I only had one run left to make this work since I spun on my first Run. Put it into first and ripped up to speed, came around the corner in second flat out, ...powered into third, rolled through.....waited for the right "Pitch"....flicked the wheel, Romped the Hydro and looked up. I was going to fast and had initiated slightly later to avoid the chance of hitting the first clipping point. Watched the cone fly passed and I had good momentum....but I knew I was in too deep ...off line. Transitioned over kicked the clutch and dropped down into second gear for the second outermost clipping zone.... My deep initiation had put me far out.. a little too far out for me to get in decent proximity. So I held the shallow line and kept momentum up so I could swing into the last section with some authority. Transitioned over past the green brick building and realized I was going wayyy to fast and was literally going to hit the wall square on my passenger side quarter panel, but surprisingly I knew exactly what to do. Pulled angle with the steering wheel and dropped the throttle all the way to the floor. Must've been at 5500 in second when I did that... The EFR was there right as I thought I was going to hit the wall.... The Wolf Screamed, was in full squat and smoke began to pour into the cabin.... I was in good shape.... Set my line on the wall and carried it all the way through to the finish line... And then 15 feet past the finish line...I was holding too much angle..and ended up slowly spinning. Even a spin after the finish line equates to an automatic 0. No points. Major bummer. I talked to the judges after and they didn't see my giant correction out behind the green building. I guess I was "Right" out of view. But man....the amount of experience you get from that is priceless. Thanks for the Comment! I need to keep up with the depthy posts!

Ah i miss the nervousness from sitting on the grid, initiating on 1st clipping point, holding onto a drift and that sweet feeling after a good solid run. I need to get back out there.

Update: "Top Drift Limited Round 1"

Well.......After being severely disappointed in myself for letting nerves get the best of me during Pro-Am a few weeks back, my whole goal for Limited was to simply drive the way I know I can throughout the entire comp. I mainly knew I needed to practice keeping revs up after initiation and improving my throttle control on this technical track. The layout was supposed to be easier, but I found it a little tougher to drive. They'd moved the First Clip in almost 15-20 feet towards the dirt so that there was less "Run-way" and now...there was a whole lot of open space to the right of the clip.. Which meant that there was more freedom to initiate however you'd like. It took some getting used to but Practice went well. There were only 27 Drivers or so compared to over 70 in Pro-Am, so There was a lot more seat time. Saturdays Practice went well, and the over-all feel of the event was much more relaxed than Pro-Am... Granted though.
I was feeling pretty confident during practice even though the weather sucked. It was mid 50's all day with higher winds and hardly any sun shine.
Saturdays Comp was a ton of fun. We started off the day with an hour and a half long Practice session for both A group and B group. I was happy to have such a long session because I really wanted to try and dial in my approach after initiation into the first outer clipping zone. The car was running great, it was also much more practical in terms of weather... 70+ degrees out all day with light winds and sun shine. We had a drivers meeting right before qualifying and were instructed that we'd get 3 qualifying laps instead of 3 like Pro-Am. This was brought on spur of the moment because the judges really wanted to see us do our best and figured the extra lap would give us some solid confidence haha. It worked though. Me and the wolf pumped out 2 solid Runs and both my buddies Brandon and Micki let me know they should be good enough to qualify. My third run I went all out. Tried to get as close to the FIrst clip as possible and hit it 3/4 on my bumper. I knew that was a big deduction but I really wanted to push it. Coming into the first outer I was feeling like I was on so I kept the revs up and hauled *** into the green building clipping zone.... grazed the first K wall and headed into the second last outer K... ended up nudging it a bit harder than I thought and it bumped me off my line. Luckily I had enough angle to be safe and just let off throttle and harmlessly skid to a slow roll. It's good to see how much is too much sometimes...and that was an excellent run to "Feel it out."

I ended up Qualifying 7th overall. I want to apologize for everyone's names I forgot. I really suck at names and I've always had a problem with it haha... But my first ever Tandem Battle would be vs a Grey 350Z I do remember who it was. Inku Nam. I was feeling pretty confident in my lead runs so I really just Laid it down out there. On my follows...it was hard to get enough confidence to get in close to anyone because I thought everyone was going to spin. I Also knew I wasn't too familiar with what to do in case of that moment when you know they are going to spin. But I ended up following through and he spun once which put me through to the next battle. The next Battle was Vs the "Jimmy Up" car. A sick looking s14 with all sorts of style and a driver that wasn't afraid to get in to any pocket. I'm really trying to remember how the battles went but I want to say we went 1 one more time and on that follow run he ended up tapping the green building third outer a little too hard in front of me.... Almost spun him around directly into the K but he saved it. I simply let off throttle and went inside of him. It was def a rush. Cool *** car and Cool *** dude. That put me through to the next battle Vs Tommy Brownells S13. I had been watching him all weekend and he was very consistent and his car was pretty quick. I can't say exactly how many....but we must've went 3-4 One More times. There were more than a few times that I thought I was knocked out...but every time we lined up... it was OMT!

On the second to last OMT I ended up trying a little to hard and stayed Pegged in 3rd after initiation..... I thought I was reeling him in until I looked over to the left and saw the Pile on dirt mountain.... He Slapped the first outer Clipping cone .....and me coming in hot behind him ended up going directly off into the dirt and exploding the soft dirt everywhere. I looked down and looked like someone had thrown a shovel of dirt on my lap. The first thing I thought of was how long itw as going to take to clean it all out. Then I thought... ****..... i'm out. Turns out it was his fault...... so we went OMT. The wolf was perfectly fine other than a bent Ebay tow hook in the rear. OMT!!!

On my Lead I was all in and didn't have any problem or reservations. I remember thinking this is where i'd shine... I was feeling pretty solid on the run but towards the finish line I decided to take a look back and he was a little closer than I was on my previous follows. On my Follow for the last OMT I ended up spinning..... which was really a bummer because I know I could have prevented it had I just stayed consistent. Tommy was def the better of us two and I'm proud to have lost to him. Doesn't mean that I wont be looking forward to next time though!!!

He wen't on to battle for 3nd and I moved to battle for 3rd Vs Dori in the Garagelife S14. I think we went 2 OMT's and I ended up doing the exact same thing and spinning on my follow run...which I can't stop thinking about.......even now as I type this. I ended up Getting bumped out for it and Lost the 3rd place Podium spot. It's always a bummer to lose....because I know I could have done better. But I guess I'll just take it for fuel for the next Event at HTM for PRO-Am. I'll keep pushing and we'll see where that takes me! I had a great experience and I can't wait to get out there again soon!

ALso...my passenger side Axle started making a little bit of noise.... If anyone has a set of Nice Low Mile Good COndition 93-95 Axles please Let me know. I don't like to wait till something completely fails to take care of the problem. Thanks in advance and Stay Tuned for more updates soon!!!
