Interior shots. Pretty dirty:

And a short clip of the startup. Not bad for sitting for some time:

^ Thanks for the compliments. ETA - hopefully in my lifetime? I think Kilo doesn't want to give the car up. Seriously though, no idea as I thought it would be done a number of months ago. The next time I can get down to Orlando will be in December.

^ Partially nice looking v mount. Kilo hacked up the original intercooler work to switch the driver's side pipe around so it needs some more welding. Also need to make sure the unit is properly sealed, Discussed this with Kilo.

Apologize for not reading and just looking at pics. What is the hold up for not having the car complete? I'd go insane if I couldn't drive my car that I put so much time and money into

^ The short of it is there remains about one week's worth of work to complete. The problem is getting Kilo to work on the car full time as its drag race season. So I don't know when the work will be done. Frankly I am super busy so waiting has not been a big issue.

Got to say though seeing the car really makes me want it.

Many thanks to the awesome Dale Clark for his help in diagnosing my CPU hyper flashing LED mod. It's now fixed and on its way back to me.

Dale can add to this, but in short, he redid the resistor and that didn't work. He then redid several soldering points that looked suspect, cleaned the board off with a nylon brush and finally, moved the mechanical relays by hand. The net/net is the unit now functions properly.

Now I just need the car back to reinstall it.

Well, I hope so.

I don't have much of an update for you guys. Speak with Kilo about once a week. Stuff's happening but I just don't know exactly when the car will be done.

I am going to be in FL for the Christmas holiday and plan on stopping by Kilo's to see what's up.

When a shop takes this long do they at least give you a discount? I'd be itching for the car back even if I didn't have time to drive it.

I have off thursday-sunday. So nice of bosses to let us have off for 2 whole days extra (sarcastic).
If you are up for a visitor thursday would be best but I can work around your schedule.
Love to meet up and chat, see your car etc.

Kilo always treats me right when it comes to price. No worries there. I am past the point wanting to have the car back. Weather is still really nice and I have the month off as the semester is over so would be great to take a run over to the Tail of the Dragon.

I'll need to see what's up with Kilo's schedule and then the family to figure out a time. Would love to hang out.

Hi guys, sorry for the delay. Crazy busy week.

Wanted to wait on posting an update until all was settled - the car is still at Kilo's. It's running and street tuned and I had the opportunity to spend two days last week at the shop where I drove the car for the first time in almost three years. Reminds me why we like these cars so much. Ton of power.

Car is pretty wrapped up mechanically. Kilo and I put a list together of the final things needed to get the car out of the shop and we then worked on a number of them. Wasted way too much time on my LED front turn signal project, only to find out our testing wasn't working well due to low battery voltage. Oh well.

The primary issue is the car's paint got damaged and the car needs to be repainted. Spent a bunch of time with the painter and he's going to redo the paint next week. So, if this works, then I am back down to Orlando next weekend to pick up the car. Would be just in time for DGRR, the next weekend.

Will it happen or will I be in the Miata again at DGRR? Stay tuned.

^ You too! Microtel. Am arriving Thursday. Will probably head on over to the BBQ at Addicted and then go back and hang out at the Village.

Still not sure about the car and what will happen. It's at the body shop for paint.

This has to be the longest thread in automotive forum history.

Btw, who makes your gas pedal?

^ Yep, crazy right? The pedal was from someone on the forum a number of years ago. He made both the gas and the dead pedals. Don't remember his name but nice parts.

Regarding the car, it was not ready for DGRR so I ended up driving around in my father-in-law's BMW Z4. As an aside, it blew a run flat tire, and those are not easy to get in the mountains of western NC.

I am flying down to pick up the car at the end of this month. I've been assured it will be ready to go. That means the paint has to be completed and then whatever is left on Kilo's list. The plan is to hang out a few days to ensure everything works and then to dyno the car as well. I am then going to drive it back to Asheville NC. As Kilo says, "we'll see".

Your turn signals are extremely badass. Good work with the red rings. Also curious to see how the heat coating holds up on your manifold. It looks nice, alot better looking than brown thermal wrap!

Thanks for the compliments. I'm a self-proclaimed LED expert. But seriously, I have learned quite a bit about how to do conversions correctly and have applied that knowledge to all the lights on the car, including the brake lights and the turn signals.

I am thinking of converting the amber rings in the back to red so they match the red ring parking lights and so I can then add on the Ford Mustang sequential blink to all three rings as turn signals. Probably one of my first projects once I get the car back. I've had the conversion electronics for about 2 years now to make this happen.

The heat coating on the manifold is a high temp ceramic - above 2,000 F. It will hold up just fine. Had it on my old manifold and it worked great. What I'm most interested in is the performance of the thermal dissipant coating applied to my radiator and intercooler/piping. Supposed to decrease temps by up to 15-20%. Will be hard to know exactly how well it works as the setup is now a v-mount and that in itself should solve the temp issues I had with the car.

FYI - I am a lurker in your 4 rotor build thread. Nice work!

Awesome David,

going to pm you, hoping you may have a chance to talk sometime in more detail about somethings.

That heat coating sounds insane. Most of the stuff I've seen has melted / burned off over time.
