Jred's first Rx-7 build
Hey, so I managed to grab my dream car back in November 11/2016. I picked it up for a very tempting price. I had just finished parting out my turbo civic so it was perfect timing to bring home an FD. The car was perfectly running, had a minor vac leak within the rats nest, so boost would bleed off sometimes. Car was relatively stock, complete greddy exhaust, arc intake box, ohlins suspension, feed intercooler pipes, bolt in roll cage, knights sports tuned ecu with adjustable boost controller inside car, turbo timer, few other little things... but you get the point.
My end goal for this car is 500rwhp [in the years to come] & to go time attack plus the very occasional street driving.
here are some photos of my baby!
The day I picked her up
continued
continued...
needed to get gas to get home... of course !
Second day, my motorcycle and car together.
Third day... she's finally home. Took a few shots before she went inside!
finally indoors, where she belongs.
R.I.P to my other bike. Parted it out.

Next, I took out the engine harness, power steering and a/c compressor. The other side was begging for some love.
Having some wiring background.. i decided to tackle the harness and convert it to a single turbo one [ wasted my time as i am buying a stand alone now]
Ordered up some new parts!
how far i got with the harness before going the standalone route.
Rad
intercooler
some block off plates
oil feed
new oem mazda key to replace the crappy spare it came with
Exhaust flange to build my manifold
Greddy Type S coils
Rotary works elbow [ NEVER AGAIN] you'll see why

i ended up getting a few things powder coated... i also slacked on taking pictures as i went through the next stuff fairly quick. [ mounting the intercooler/ rad]
making my jig for turbo manifold
Time to bang this out!
3.5 hrs later... finally all tacked up. this was my very first manifold I put together. Going to be my first time tig welding [only really tacked prior to this]
tested for steering shaft clearance! phew!
wastegate placement all done... test fit time again
just a front end shot.. sigh
few more things came back from powder coating
back to the manifold... got it all welded up to the where the wastegate flanges will be as im waiting for the gates to come in with the flanges.
manifold is all done and ready to rock.. but first.. ceramic coating time!
All done and ready to be bolted to the car for good!

took my manifold off just for some more pictures.. and to stare at it ofc. Feel great to look at it knowing i made it from scratch!
Throwback to when I drove it for the first time home.
Finally pulled her out the garage after 4 months ...
