1996 Type RS Build Thread

I thought I start a build thread on my 1996 JDM Type RS

When I got it from japan the car was pretty stock except , C-West bumper and side skirts , as well as Apexi intakes and a Blitz super access ECU.

Next I fitted a locally made carbon fibre bonnet and my headlights that I imported from japan polished the UIM and Boost pipe and replaced all plastic with hard pipes . Also replaced the old apexi intakes with HKS RS intakes and also fitted a Blitz BOV

Nice build, did you rattle can or powder coat the suspension, looks like it turned out good. I just powder coated my suspension a couple months ago and it's nice when it's all done.

My parts where San blasted and spray painted . The benefit is you can touch up with the exact same paint later when you use paint

The bumper and covers look way better painted! In my opinion the flip ups always looks better then the aftermarket flush mounts. I sold mine and went back to flip ups.

Only thing I am not a huge fan of is the wheels and side skirts. Nice build though!

Also start to like the pop ups more , but the lenses are dull and the covers tabs are crappy so gonna go for the static lights for now . Also not crazy about the rims , I want to get TE37 but at the moment it's not a priority , just sprayed them white as the chrome is a bit too bling for my taste

Plus one for the pop ups if your taking a vote. If you want you can use a headlight restoring kit. I did that and it made a big difference I think I have before and after photos and it is night and day difference.

Yes I did change bumpers , I got the CWest bumper fixed in the meanwhile as it was making a gap on the left headlight . I actually want to fit it again

It's been a while , but finally managed to sort out my sequential twins . After various swapped vaccum lines and leaking pressure tank and some faulty solenoids I can finally focus on the important things . Next is a dyno tune ( hopefully Friday) followed by a coilover upgrade . My coilovers where lying still at the post office due to a 4 months long strike . My last one should arrive tomorrow . Here a sneak peak of my Oehlins with HKS tops

Karel from Rotrix will help me tuning the Apexi. It's convenient as he is literally 500 m from my work . Just need to confirm if he got time this Friday after work .

So , picked up some hot water labs bucket copies this morning and did a mock up on the car , looks way better than my old ones . Also mocked up my old c-west bumper to see what it looks like . Still need to cut a bit on the bumper to accommodate the FMIC and ten get everything sprayed , make brackets for the buckets and buy some lights for the buckets

New buckets look lekker! Best of the three options in my opinion. Keep up the good work.
